Currys = Dixons = PC World (same parent company, usually identical offers and prices). The theatre kit is worth around £145.00 - no more, Still, a very good deal.

]This link might help.

1080P will make no difference unless you're sitting closer than about 4 feet, in which case you'd be better off saving your money for a bigger living room.

And which one gives you money off if you use an egg card?

Just trying to work out the cheapest i can get this for

heat added, very good find

4% cashback also at topcashback.com for COMET for those who want just the TV at £329 (approx £317 delivered after cashback !! , i didnt hesitate and have ordered one for the bedroom)

Me for one. I was really tempted by this deal but lack of DivX support when even cheap £15 players have it is a bit of an oversight really. How old is this system?

Still an excellent system for those who don't need DivX though, so voted hot. But yes, there are a lot of us out there who do require DivX playback.

Thanks, Heat + Rep added.

Got it reserve & collect from Currys, 2% cashback on Reward Gateway.

It's a SONY  all of their sets (apart from the U-series) have a great picture.

.. now I'll just sit back and wait for the Samsung / Panasonic fanboys to disagree

I have an S-series Sony set (with this surround sound system) - the picture is awesome in blu-ray

To those that need DIVX - use something else to play them (or flog the surround system)- I play divx / blu-ray / MKVs etc through my PS3 and the sound / picture is fantastic.

This is a cracking deal, but what can the usb port be used for? Is it just for viewing photos, mp3's and the like? Can you record tv to an external hdd?

Freers;3461155

Can you record tv to an external hdd?

No you cannot it does not have a record function,

Regarding DivX playback, the manual:
pdf.crse.com/man…pdf
states that DivX is available on all but the UK and US models. Is it possible that it may be able to play DivX if you flash it with foreign firmware?

lol.... Does samsung have fanboys? Isn't that like goodmans having fan boys.. Lol..

Sony uses Samsung's LCD panels

My sister was after this TV the other week for £329.99 from Amazon...I'm tempted to ask her to get it from PC World instead and give her the £70 difference for the Home System kit, since she won't be into that..

The thing is though, I'm not that savvy with this particular piece of technology...and I've been reading around and I've read that you'll need to feed an optical cable between PS3 and Home System kit, and this might be a daft question...but could I still leave the HDMI cable from the PS3 into the TV? I don't want to lose any picture quality or anything.

Basically, I've got a Sony 40V4000 and a PS3 in my room, and that's it, for now anyway...I just want 5.1 surround sound for my PS3 games and Blu-Ray. Will this piece of kit do the business for me, without compromising the PS3 picture?

Thanks.

i have armed a work mate with this info, she is now scurrying between comet and pc world, hoping to get pc world to price match the tv with comet at £330, so getting the tv for £323 and then pointing out the free av system once the price match is agreed.

I doubt it very much that she will get the FREE system as well for £323.....good luck though.

she didnt, i did tell her to just go in to the shop and get a price match on the tv, once they obviously agree to that to then mention the free gift if they dont automatically add it. instead she blurted everything out all in one go and suprise suprise they said it was a different offer so would not price match.

technically they should as the tv is 70 quid cheaper, and a free gift is just that, free.

she is happy anyway, she was going to pay 400 for the tv last week so getting it for 330 saved her some dosh.

if only she had tried the price match without mentioning the free gift first!!

Can't find anywhere near me with stock, bummer!
