Many thanks updated my first post.
Go easy on the exclamation points there, newbie - for a second, I thought there was actually something extraordinary about this offer!

As for the Google box, that company really won't stop 'till they know EVERYTHING about every one of our preferences, and to that end they're happy to sell (and now give away) actual physical tech as loss leaders (now that they've got access to all our emails), so no surprises there, except maybe how avid and all-encompassing they've become in their creepy quest. It's a bit scary.
Been looking at this on RS for 449 for a while now. Sell the Google box and you've paid a good price for the TV.
Great price for a 40inch Sony screen with Freeview HD tuner. Has anyone found a decent review for this TV? Is it good for XBOX360/PS3 games?
I wish our toshiba 37" would die so I can justify buying a bigger/ better TV!!

IT will be fine for gaming but Plasma is highly recommended for no motion/blur.

Google are just the same as Microsoft, yahoo, facebook, apple, in fact all of the tech companies.
May be able to get Richer Sounds to price match at £399 then pay £40 extra for 5 year warranty. Lots of the Google boxes on eBay for about £100 if you wanted to sell it.
Looks like a nice tv, tommy tempted after missing the Pioneer 46" deal with Amazon the other day.
Hi
I have got a Sony Bravia 40 inch, near new condition. LCD really good for gaming or watching movies. No box just the tv with remote for 240. Oh yh its ex display model, it does have some minor scuffs but otherwise in new condition.
DevilD

Shouldn't be selling own stuff on site

He can, just not in this thread, there is a 'For Sale/Trade' section up top for things like this ^^^^^^^

On the face of it, perhaps, but in actuality they're more aggressive and with less scruples than all the others you've listed.
Furthermore, they're a bit more competent than Microsoft, bigger than Yahoo, more insidious than Facebook and more pervasive than Apple.

You mean the Philips... If it HAD been a Pioneer, that might've been a different kettle of pixels...
That TV was no great shakes, I am reasonably certain that this (and ANY other) Sony would comfortably beat it into a cocked hat.
I took a chance on a bargain Sony refurb (from Sony themselves) sight unseen (which I don't normally do, but I trust Sony) and I haven't regretted it. It's a lower-range model, yet it's a bright, sharp display and the colour reproduction on it is just superb! Natural-looking, yet incredibly vivid, which is hard to get right.

I don't think anyone has fewer scruples than Microsoft, unless its EA.

Which model was it?

Philips TV are poor. They have awful ghosting/lag issues. [LCD/LED]
Picture quality is poor and colour reproduction is just hard to get right.

Your right this tv is not worth £499 from sony or £439 from here or their, Its a rebadge of one of the cheaper other unknown brands, 2 Hdmi's will be used by sky hd and google box then you have to keep changing cables.

i want this for the bedroom.how much can i sell the google box for

The google box is worth around £100 from Sony via the sale section, you could sell it for around that price, the tv would be worth £300 then.
Easy enough to get an HDMI auto switching box, they're not that expensive and if you don't want the google box it should sell on ebay for £100 easily enough.

Used them loads in the past, and found them to be one of the better retailers, like Amazon and Richer Sounds.

The only item I've had that grew a fault was a DVD player years ago, and they replaced it with a brand new model. Highly recommended. I did have to send it back out of my own pocket though, but this was when postal charges didn't need you to take a loan out. Special Delivery back then was £5. You can always ring them up or email to find out about TV's.
