Lowest end Sony TV ... Not good get the KDL42w705

That's a £400+ TV, how is that a helpful comment, So basically you are saying even if I had £300 budget for a TV it's the KDL42w705 or nothing?

Great price heat added

Is this the same model @ John Lewis? http://www.johnlewis.com/sony-bravia-kdl40r483-led-hd-1080p-tv-40-with-freeview-hd/p1339723

If so you could get them to price match Argos and get the 5 year guarantee

Yeah same model mate, They have had it previously at £299 on a price match so it's a high possibility.

Got this for my parents. Superb TV. Netflix HD content looks incredible on this. Well worth the money!

NO, its pretty bad i do think sony are the best at making Tv's but there low end tv's aren't great at all but there middle end and high end are great but im only speaking on the gaming front it has 30ms input lag which is bear average and 2 HDMI sockets which is terrible and is a pretty chubby TV and 100HZ is average also

2 HDMI sockets is terrible? How'd you work that out? If you've only got 2 HDMI-compatible devices then this is just right!

I've had this TV (the one the thread's about, not this alternative) 3 months now and can honestly say if I'd have known when I bought it what I know now, I'd have waited until I had the extra money to buy the alternative. The lag on the picture is shocking, so bad that I've already had my TV replaced once and I'm looking to just try and go for a refund.

When the engineer visited to view the problem on my first set he had no hesitation in marking it as faulty, immediately stating that the lag was way worse than it should be. And the new set Sony sent me is exactly the same, equally as awful. So kudos to the bloke who made the comment you're chastising, cos in this instance, he's right.

Hardawan

You crying about the Pixel Piracy issue?

You blatently stated the game has no support, yet 4 days before your comment was created a patch was released, I don't have an issue with deal heat, I don't struggle with it, I do have however issues with people trying to comment like they know what they're talking about throwing around factually incorrect information.....move on from it.

I wouldn't really use the word chastising to be honest mate, is it not somewhat obvious if you spend more money on a TV you are going to get a better screen?

I don't have issues with feedback, my point was is it not helpful if you are going to suggest alternatives to try and keep it at the same price point? Slapping £150 on to the price of a TV on a money saving website seems somewhat pointless to me.

Only used chastising for wants of picking a word... but of course it's obvious you get a better TV for more money, however I was duped into thinking this one would be ok given other's comments, only thing I can think is that those who find the picture on this set adequate are either visually impaired or don't watch much or a variety of TV.

Don't get me wrong, it's not terrible all the time, in fact under certain conditions the picture is as impressive as you'd expect from a Sony LED, but at others (particularly scenes filmed indoors under low light) the picture's nothing short of hideous, the entire screen just becomes one big blur depending on movement...

Nice

Don't have much knowledge about the state of the market in general, but I did see the 40R and 40W next to each other in John Lewis, and the superior picture of the W really did seem to be worth the extra money. This coming from someone who was looking within the 40R's price bracket.

I genuinely am shocked at that to be honest mate, I mean I obviously personally haven't used the TV, but I generally check out (shopping site) reviews before I post (most) deals,

Amazon buyers seemed to rate it quite high (over 126 reviews)

http://s3.postimg.org/zevim654z/Capture2.png

and also on the Argos website (over 61 reviews)

http://s23.postimg.org/e8hjkpssb/Capture.png

But I am obviously not going to argue with somebody that has used the TV and at risk of displaying a severe lack of a life I am going to leave you lot to chat amongst yourselves about it

am tempted by this but going to hold out and keep refreshing the "Audiovisual" section until a 50"-60" 4K TV appears and pay the extra.

Aye I know, like I say it was the on-line reviews that tempted me to buy it...

I'd say at this price it's ok for a 2nd TV, but I wouldn't (don't) want it as my main one...

Yeah. These are people who wail about bad words on albums with a listing clearly stating "EXPLICIT VERSION". Really not going to find the next Nobel Prize winner in this gene pool....
