Plus Sony Bravia tvs now come standard with a 3 year warranty.

The Sony KDL40S5500 offers Full 1080p HD Ready compatibility at a top value price.

At the heart of this 40" Full HD Sony LCD TV is a group of picture enhancements that makes for top quality vision. As you'd expect, the Sony features a 1080p, 6.2 Mega Pixel resolution screen with 24p True Cinema - for picture scanning as smooth as the movies. Little needs to be said about BRAVIA as its reputation for vivid colour, low noise and smooth motion precedes it. The BRAVIA ENGINE 2 featured here has four extra image processing stages and full digital signal processing. The result is superb contrast levels, natural, life-like colours and crisp detailing.

In terms of the sound quality, the KDL40S5500 uses the most basic Sony audio system. This does without the S-Force Front Surround and Voice Zoom of more expensive models but does still have a digital amplifier and Steady Sound. Steady Sound equalises the volume between programs and commercials for a more consistent and relaxing sound level.

From the company that brought you Blu-ray, you can not only expect the best picture compatibility but also the right selection of sockets to connect it all up. Clearly, Sony understands HDTV, which is why this new 40" 1080p Sony LCD features three HDMI sockets. The Sony KDL40s5500 also includes the full range of analogue sockets you'd expect including two SCART, component and PC inputs.

Other fantastic features include a USB socket and Picture Frame mode. Simply load up your favourite photos and show them on the TV - just like a, very large, digital picture frame!

Smartly styled with Sony's usual subtle touch, the KDL40s5500 makes a tempting choice.

Good deal! Confused though as you have Amazon in the title and the link takes you there, but you have Richer Sounds references too. Also, I can't see that Amazon are offering a free cable so maybe that is Richer Sounds? :?

Is this really a good deal, I could have sworn my ex girlfriend got a Sony Bravia 40" from currys for about £450 6 months ago. Certainly wasn't over £500.

This is in Richersounds on the homepage. Also some other amazing TV deals!

From the deal floating around and whats coming next on offers i dont think this is such a good deal and i think u can do much better besides its 40" why make these odd sizes...

LOL currys sellin a sony 1080p 40"!?!??!

No way unless it was off display..... they just wouldnt do it....

If Sony are currently giving you up to £200 for your old TV, does this work out cheaper at the Sony Store or Price Matched against at John Lewis?

Seriously, I think they had a special offer on at the time though.

Great Price - this is selling for £800 elsewhere.

Is this any better than the Samsung LE40B550A5?

I know this is 2" smaller, but its £20 more than the Toshiba Regza 42" (AV)

What are the positives/negatives between the 2 TV's.

I dont want to sound fussy, but that is a fugly TV!

This Tv is the wrong size for my lounge, I wanted a 43.46 inch tv, has less than 10 HDMI sockets and the remote is 2cm too long to fit in my remote sock + it's black, not mauve so I'm voting cold... Just can' please some people!

I do think the deal could do with a bit of sorting out though...Is it Richer Sounds or Amazon deal?!!

Dixon's have it for £549.99 too if anyone prefers to buy from Dixons

I bought this TV on Friday from Amazon (after TV in daughter's bedroom went pop) and had it delivered on Saturday.

It's a great TV for the money. It's not quite as good as the W series one I bought a few months ago, but then again that was £300 more.
