Popped in to Sony Centre in Milton Keynes and just fetched myself one of these!

It was originally on offer for £849.99 and went in today and reduced a further £50 to £799!

This offer has been on previously but now is back on! Not a bad deal me thinks as the cheapest 40W4000 alone on the net I found is shy of £699 with only 1 year warranty.

If you want the 40W4500 with the blu ray player then they doing that for £1099 which was out of my budget but I thought I'd put it in here too

Offers end on 30th November according to the display signs. May vary from store to store though

Seems pretty good to me as the cheapest you'll probably get both of these from other suppliers is about £860 (thats buying the tv & player separately from cheapest suppliers) & thats without the 5 year warranty. Going to vote hot on this.

p.s - the Sony KDL40W4000 is one of the best reviewed tv's on the market right now.

I know! The 40W4000 has had nothing but good reviews however this has just been pipped by the 40W4500 in reviews and recent awards but its well out of my price range and I couldn't justify paying the extra for the privilege of having the 100Hz Motionflow processing

does the 5 year warranty cover the tv & bluray player or just the tv ?

Not sure. Looking ate the receipt I think it may well only be for the TV

I am tempted to get this as i was looking for Samsung LE40A656 or Sony KDL40W4000 as an xmas present for someone. :?

Can this be picked up at a sony centre or do they deliver them (if you know) ?

Damn. Just bought this set from Empire direct for £812 with 5yr guarantee.
Picture and sound quality is excellent.
Cracking price.

They dont deliver as far as I know but certainly you can pick up from the retail store! lol

I haven't actually picked mine up yet. I just paid for it and will pick it up on Monday or tuesday

Nowhere near as good a deal as the Samsung LE40A756 + BDP1500 blu-ray player from Currys last week, which hopefully will return in the run up to Xmas or in the sales. This TV has been superseded by the KDL40W4500 so it's going to be discounted and by all accounts the W4500 is a better TV. Both are prone to backlight clouding though so be careful! Not a bad deal though considering the cheapest price for the TV with a 5 yr warranty would appear to be about £770 (from Richersounds).
If a 37" screen will do you though then you really can't go wrong with this:-

richersounds.com/sho…X80

Bargain at £600 with a 5yr warranty, fantastic TV (and please don't anyone come back and tell me it isn't 1920x1080 res, at these screen sizes it doesn't make a difference).

How off topic!

Voting hot.

Just rang Preston and Sony Centre deals and both said they can only do this for £899.

Both say the TV on it's own is £799.

Rang Milton Keynes and they can definitely do the full deal for £799

Knickers. :x

yes there is a big difference,if u got a pluray player running at 1080p it makes a huge difference

Hi, great deal!, did you notice if they had any similar offers for any of the 46" tv's, i.e. free blue ray etc? All the decent deals at the moment seem to be for 40" sets.

Cheers Michael

It is a complete waste of time buying a 40" TV. You need at least a 50" TV. I made the mistake of buying a 42" last year but after a few days I wished I had got the 50". A year later I sold my old 42" on Ebay and put the money towards a 50". It is a far better size of television but next time I want an even bigger one.

stupidest thing i ever heard,
it all depends on the distance u are going to be viewing from,if its 5 foot a 37 would be almost to big, 7-9foot i would say 40-42max, a 50inch you would need to sit about 15foot away from to get most enjoyment and not send your eyes bad.

thanks for the info, the 1250 quote was for tv and blu ray hdmi , 5 years warranty and delivry and install, will try and get local sony centre to match the milton keynes price but dont hold out much hope, they wouldent budge on the 1250 last time, prefer to get from local shop though.

Oh god, what did I miss?

Sony centre in leicester do this offer also, its valid till the end on november. I nearly brought one this weekend until they tried pushing a £50 hdmi cable on me.

On a seperate note this sony model has a DVB-C input for a card and cam, without me going into anymore details other techies here will know what Im saying it can be used with (in theory of course...)

No comparison. Samsung are not in the same league as they use inferior processing compared to Sony's BRAVIA engine and indeed to most leading brands. One example is Samsung TV's lack the ability to display a range of blacks and greys correctly and shadow detail is inferior. We also get quite a few Samsung's returned faulty so they are not as reliable either.

If something like a Sony or Panasonic costs a little more over a Samsung it's always justified to pay the extra and if money is no object then take a look at a Pioneer Kuro.

Those Pioneers Kuro kick **** man! But then so does the price!! lol

I work in a sony centre in southampton and we are still offering this deal with a 5 year warranty and the BDP-S350 blu ray player....or if yo dont fancy the blu ray player you can get the RHT-G900B surround sound stand for £199 instead of £699 which is cracking....

help me get my commission up lol....and we still have it in stock!!
