Or at least consider this if you are s few years away from going all 4k as about 90% of the general population are.

If anyone is considering going for a 1080p set you're better off going for a higher end model from a couple of years ago over the 1080p panels that are about these days.

Can I ask why the older panels are better? Thanks

Sorry expired it before checking code 🙄

4K will be wasted on a TV this size. Don't believe the hype, 1080p will be fine for a 40" screen.

List a TV better for £359.

1080p makes more sense than a 4k TV for the majority of users at the moment.
The majority of users do NOT use their TV for gaming , and most do not pay for the premium TV services that you get a few 4K broadcasts on.

HD broadcasts at the TV's native resolution will be better than it will be watching them upscaled on a 4K TV. The 1080p TVs seem to handle standard definition better too - sadly the majority of broadcast TV is still standard definition.

Sure, FHD models from a couple of years ago were still being sold with flagship/near-flagship technology in them - whereas nowadays FHD models are simply budget offerings with poor overall picture quality in comparison.

You should be able to find a 2015 model with a 120hz panel, and with far better image processing and motion handling than any 2016/2017 FHD model will have.

i only went 1080p last year. Not having 4k wont kill you. HeAt!

If you read towards the bottom of the the OP of this thread you'll find a list of the best models avforums.com/thr…03/

As for where to get them, you'll have to do some searching for yourself, it took me a couple of months (back in June) to find what I was after (ended up getting a Sony w809c I found on ebuyer).

I think at this point you'll have to be willing to go down the second hand route in order to get most of what is on that list, it's down to whether you think just getting a 4K/Cheap FHD set is worth avoiding all the hassle.
