Cheapest price I've seen this TV in stock. DirectTVs (part of Appliances Direct) have shopfronts in Huddersfield and South Normanton so John Lewis should price match.

Don't know that I would bother with JL price match if you can go and get one of those in store. I did a JL price match, paid extra for fast delivery, sat all day waiting on TV. Nothing. When I called I was told they were 'too busy' and I shouldn't have been given that delivery date. The next delivery date would be 7 days later. So much for JL customer service. Maybe it's not all its cracked up to be as they weren't in the least bit interested that I had taken a day off work or that 7 days was unreasonable given that I paid extra for 48hr delivery.

And yet I ordered on Boxing day (26th) and JL delivered mine and it was delivered the following Tuesday (30th) at the time agreed, I guess sometime it goes right and other times not.

Must say I'm very happy so far and it is a great TV.

what is this company like? there price is rubbish what you save. At launch it was only £899.00 not nearly £1200 what they are saying, weirdly what the 55" inch is roughly now.

just been reading another post £799.00 for the 55" model, but the 50" model is currently at No3 in the top 10 TV's in HCC. and has never been out of the top 5 since launch.

From John Lewis:-

In order to apply a price reduction on a purchase, the criteria in our pricing policy must be met. I regret that after review the request you have submitted does not match all or parts of this policy.

We do not price match with Direct TVs as they operate via online sales and as a showroom. In order to match a price request, the competitor must trade on the same basis as us, for example we will not match online only retailers, mail order only or show-rooms attached to internet-only orders.

Therefore, on this occasion I regret that I cannot match the price offered by Direct TVs. If you would like to view more information about Never Knowingly Undersold and our pricing you can do so on our website.

So NO PRICE MATCH JL!

JL can be very inconsistent with price matches. I know some people have had success by replying to a rejected request.

I think JL are jumping on the word 'showroom', if you look at the 'showroom' details (http://www.directtvs.co.uk/content/visit-us.asp) you'll see there is a sales counter and you can browse, buy and take away the TV which is how any other shop operates and I would argue this means that they are trading on the same basis as JL (as per the JL NKU policy). Furthermore this particular TV is an in-store only price, one of their 'exclusive offers available in store only'. JL really can't argue they operate internet-only orders, you can't buy this TV online even if you wanted to!

I would challenge the rejection.

I told you they wont match , they are also based on a trading estate so expect to see that excuse come up if you challenge the showroom bit

Quite possibly but you may get lucky. It's still worth asking...

JL should really be more up front about who they will and won't price match rather than pretending it's across the board. A simple list of 'price matched competitors' on their NKU page would save both them and us a lot of time in price match requests...

FYI John Lewis have now dropped the standard price on this to £679 instead of £699: johnlewis.com/son…ver
