Pretty sure this TV is Active 3D. Only the 42" model is passive.

It says on the home page to enter code "OUTLETJAN15" for 10% off bringing it down to £500?? No??

You may be right, just quoting the Sony specs from the site.

Choices choices, been wanting the 55in model of this but at £300 cheaper don't know whether to take this one.

Kenzo - I think you will find that any 4K TV at a £500 pricepoint will be poor quality (if you can find one) - probably an entry level LG. 4k TVs need a lot of processing power to render 1080p content nicely to compute the missing pixels. Considering 4K content is limited and technology relatively new 1080p will look better on this set than on a budget 4K TV (imo).

Have read many posts/articles on this topic. Decent 4K starts at around £1200+ - 4K TVs will get better over the next 12 months and the top models will reduce in price as the content is more widely adopted.

Think the lure of a new tv and 5 year guarentee will decide for me to get the 55in but very hot price for this!

This or the Samsung 6400 at £499!? decisions, decisions. Extra 2 inches with this though (no Carry on jokes!)

there will be another one available soon as im sending mine back as it has red on the screen. Will get a refund and have decided to pay a bit more at JL to get the 5 yrs warranty.

Mine was not new as box was not original sony.

All gone:(

The 42" Sony W8 at Costco for 3 weeks only at a tempting price £420, been looking at this model since it was £700.
TVs are getting bigger and bigger and cheaper a friend of mine just got a 47" and in my opinion too big for the room which is a tad bigger than my room, so 42" to replace my 5 year old 32"......can anyone shed any light the difference between the 2013 & 2014 models and how to tell ? oO

Would never buy off sony direct again, bought the 55 from them and it went faulty on 22nd December, they only picked it up yesterday and couldn't send me another as no stock so a waiting for my refund. Sony customer care has been horrendous, going to get the Samsung once my refund comes through.

Costco always get cold because of the membership fee. I always buy tvs from there 90 day money back guarantee and
5 years guarantee money back if can't repair

All gone unless I'm mistaken.

Still available as at 7:40pm. The URL link keeps going up and down, could be website glitches. Just try again a few minutes later, clear your cache, or try another device.

Don't do it trust me, 1st one had wrong accessories and Sony wouldn't send correct ones (send passive glasses instead of active) & had a mark in the corner of the screen , sent back ordered another and the frame was bent then got the red light of death and it went back, got one from JL in the end

Probably my returns so be careful , and they are certainly not "as new" they came in huge plain brown boxes and have been well used

Hmm, having second thoughts about this now after reading the comments. Guess I'll have to wait an see when it comes. In regards to returns did you have any trouble sending the units back when you weren't happy with them??

Returns were quibble free and without fuss, just ring up and they collect

Make sure you give the TV a good checking over and check the frame as well

i think i might have your one as the red light of death and plain brown box .. took a couple of pictures to prove it. now it seems to have gone for the present, but am returning as it does not feel right.trying to call up for a pickup but its a long process and no one is picking up.

gone with you on that and got it from JL.

Cheers deanos, will definitely be giving this a good check over when it arrives!!

Serial no: 6608763 was one of mine that went back

If you are happy with the TV , then register the TV on the Sony site , Sony should send you a 20% off voucher, then go into your account and choose the registered tv and choose "extend your warranty", 3yrs will be £24 with voucher, well worth it at that price, HTH

Ha, think I've got one of your returns - Frame is bent on one side...noticably. It's not the serial number you listed above though. Back to Sony you go!!

Bargain price for the warranty and thanks for the heads up! Don't think I'll be ordering from the Sony outlet again.

I'm amazed anyone can complain about items from the Sony Outlet store, because whenever I go on there every single TV says not available or coming soon!

Is this only for TVs bought from the outlet or any sony when you register? Reason I ask is I bought one from amazon and registered it on the sony website, no voucher that you talk of - would be nice to have 3 years warranty for just £24.

oh maybe they stopped it ? i did mine b4 xmas should be any sony tv, did it on the 2 from the outlet and received 2 20% off vouchers, and i did it about a year ago with a blu ray player and got a code

Ok i bought a 40" tv from the outlet, touchwood its ok luckily

Just registered it and they have sent a 20% code again , so matwalaboy you must be doing something wrong, what was the purchase date you put in ?

Is there a particular time of the day when stocks are available on the outlet - because I have not been able to find any TV in stock in my last 10-15 days of checking?

Also deanos - it was my fault on the code, it indeed did come - but ended up in the spam folder, thanks for confirming that which prodded me to check the spam folder too

its anytime, just a case of checking few times a day

What is the general feedback of refurbished TV's bought off the outlet - worth it or no?

its a bit of a gamble to be honest, had 2 of the 50" both faulty, i bought a 40" and its been fine so far

I recently bought a 48W605 for £323 inc 10% off code. TV arrived in excellent condition. just a minor scuff on the metal stand. Hot for me

6am - that's what I was advised by the call centre

Just managed to buy a 50" 829 series TV - although no codes work - does anyone know of a working code?
