This 55" TV has won countless awards and has had raving reviews this year

hdtvtest.co.uk/new…htm

I can't find it cheaper anywhere else despite looking for weeks.

Almost all retailers are selling it for at least £900.
John Lewis have agreed to price match this, with their excellent 5 year guarantee it's a no brainer.

I think the Sonic Direct store is in Bradford.

Is there any confirmation for this?

I want this to so baaaad!!!

John Lewis have declined to pricematch with Sonic Direct for 2 different Bravias (65" and 60") previously (this week) stating that the TVs can only be bought in store with Sonic Direct, hence it doesn't fulfill their terms and conditions which is of course complete BS and just a cop out for them.

I would be interested in learning how the OP got them to pricematch this, through their website or in the local JL?

Yes I've done it myself, requested the price match online on Saturday and received an email the following day to confirm the price match.

As above, I requested online.

On a side note they also agreed to match electricalexperience.co.uk for £829.99 a couple of weeks ago too.

Nice one

got this when it dropped to £800 on Black Friday at Currys with the free soundbar. Haven't regretted it one bit. HD content looks absolutely stunning on it.

John Lewis agreed to price match there last deal on the 50" version for me but once they added the prices on sonic direct for delivery etc John Lewis stated it comes in more expensive so there is no point, it took 48 hours to get that reply from them, and today I plan to make a two hour trip to buy the 50" version at there current list price because I want tv ASAP and don't trust must online retailers, so now with this do I attempt to get them to price match and waste more time or do I just go buy what is already a good priced 50" version. Maybe you can put up proof of your accepted price match,

The sonic direct deal was posted by me and JL have priced matched. Sonic Direct have a physical store but clearly state items can be collected by courier so count as an online sale...

Thank you for your price match request for the Sony Bravia KDL55W8 LED TV.

I have looked into your request and will be happy to match the price of £799.00 for theSony Bravia KDL55W8 LED TV seen at SonicDirect.

To place this order with us please visit our website. When you have received your items(s) and are satisfied with your purchase, please let me know by return email and I will process a refund of the price difference.

You must have gotten lucky then as I said they refused to pricematch any TV so far for me

they did initially reject but I replied and questioned it

And that was, as I said, two different TVs both at sonic direct. Their argument was that this is a "store exclusive" and hence doesn't match their policy

I questioned them as well but they said on both occasions that they won't match

I also found JL to be very hit and miss when it comes to price match, it very much depends who you get and what mood they're in I suppose.

Japes what was the name of the JL rep?

I have also got a price match with Sonic Direct on the 50" version last month, and that was also an in store offer of £699

I got this tv black friday and it is great well happy.

I got JL to price match it at 799 with SonicDirect as well. First request been denied but another one no problems... They also agree to price match KDL55W955 at £899 with Apollo. I got myself KDL60W855 from Amazon lighting deals for £999 including free sound bar. Waiting for being delivered now but if not happy with it JL offers
valid for another three weeks

I've had my eye on this TV for the last couple of weeks and £800 is very tempting, but I'm wondering whether it's worth waiting another week or two for the prices to drop further following CES? Saying that, If I could get that Currys black friday deal, TV + soundbar for £800, I'd snap it up right now.

Already been turned down by JL they say that Sonic are not trading on the same basis. Price match refused, I live close enough to collect from Sonic or JL and have pointed that out and also that they have price matched RicherSounds before who trade on the same basis as the Sonic offer. If I understand correctly they are refusing the price match as it is in store only.

This 55" TV has won countless awards and has had raving reviews this year and still worse than a plasma from 2006 for PQ

Even if the price drops elsewhere after you have ordered, JL will still price match if it's within 28 days.

haha very true, I even spoke to Vincent who done the review on hdtvtest, I commented on this TV and he said, 'yeah well you can't beat plasma'. X)

Such a shame you can't get them no more, even the second hand ones go for inflated prices on ebay now.

I see that a lot of TVs been reduced lately. Probably because the coming CES starting on 6 Jan.

I would be expecting more price drops for the old models and new LCD TVs featuring "quantum dot technology" like SONY Triluminos TVs.

Maybe I can just hold the purchase and wait until CES ends.

I have this. It's Fantastic! First Sony tv I have had and I am very very pleased with it.

Is that for real...?

I have a Panasonic GT50 Plasma that I got a couple of years ago from JL and the picture quality is good but I would have expected the PQ on sets such as these to be at least comparable, if not better by now...? Great news for me to be frank as my wallet can remain closed for a while longer.

Very nice TV, but a bit laggy when accessing the apps

Any T.V techies here please help me which one is best among these two?

How does the LG 55LB650V for £649 at Richer Sounds compare to this?

Power bulge at back make it pants for wall mounting. :-(

Absolutely, your GT50 is a beautiful television, as good as this Sony is you'll never get the deep blacks & contrast that you enjoy.
I bought one from JL a couple of years ago but my son cracked the screen with a ball a few months later, I've still not got over it!

My short list were these two tv's as well. I think the crux of it is the Sony is slightly better but does it justify the price difference.
Initially I was inclined towards the Samsung but at £800 for this Sony I felt it was worth paying slightly more.

Not sure if to be happy or a little sad if that is how it is. I have always had Plasma TV's for many years and selling my previous Samsung plasma to buy the GT50, on offer at JL, was one of the best moves I made. It is great but you do get conditioned to it and find that is now your acceptable viewing levels, as such. So unless you are watching any other TV's you don't get the chance to compare the so called latest and greatest etc, comparable in price to what we paid for the GT50 (£529) with a five years warranty.

I just assumed that by now things would have improved somewhat to the black and contrast levels of what the GT50 offers at this price point.

To get similar black levels you have to pay thousands for an OLED.

I'm after the 42 inch model
All the good deals have ended on this size
