why cold votes, let me guess its something u dont want so gets voted cold, irrelivant if its good deal.

Whats this like compared to a slingbox?

If you get this, read the posts here for help on the software.....

yep thats right, slightly dearer then last time, but still a good price for this excellent device. saw one in exeter vale last night, if someone wants to pickup and save on delivery. very much using it since i picked it up last time.

i would like to know why the cold vote brigade are out.

I'm inclined to agree....I think the forum should be set up that you cant vote unless you post.

neither hot or cold for me....I'm investigating the Slingbox as well

I think the ones vote cold they don't know what is it. But there is not much info on website .
Amazon sells it for £200 : amazon.co.uk/Son…YXI

The real bad news, however, is that while the LF-PK1 can only be watched by one PC at a time (same as the Slingbox), the LocationFree Player can only be installed on one PC and you'll need to pay £20 for another license if you want to install it on a second. (computerbuyer.co.uk/os/…tml )

I haven't read much on either device, does this mean you can get the foreign sport channels such as Nova Sport for football games???

Wasn't this the one that was not suported on Vista and s/ware had to be installed on each machine to use?

Yes, there is no software for Vista and unlikely to be any coming out

It will allow you to view whatever channels you can normally receive. e.g. hook it up to your sky box and you can view all channels you subscribe to, anywhere with a wireless connection.

I used the slingbox last year on holiday, well worth the money and included a freeview receiver, although not used in my case as hooked up via sky.

This unit works great with a psp, great quality inside the home, still very much watchable when connecting via hotspot.

There is a vista cd that comes inside the box,as well as the xp one

I have bought 2 of these brand new in the box (unopened) with the XP and Vista software.
I have licence keys for both software installations.
If anyone is interested I will sell them for £39 each. I am base near Manchester if you wish to collect.

PM me with further questions.

Thanks

I have one of these for sale, brand new, sealed box, I will sell for £39 including delivery.
If interested please let me know.

Voted hot on the basis of price. In a straight shoot-out with the slingbox, the slingbox would win in most cases. The reviews generally lean towards better picture quality at a given bit rate for the slingbox, and you can install the software on as many PCs as you like (only one can watch at a time) at no extra cost. There is also more compatability with PDAs, smartphones etc (although you pay for a license for thos).

If you only need one PC, and you have PSPs in the house then the LocationFree at this price is good value. Cheapest Slingbox (new) I can see is £69.99 at Expansys at the moment, although deals around £50 for the classic seem to come around fairly often, and they are often makeweights in 3G phone packages.
