Refurbished models are products returned to Sony under the following circumstances: change of mind, faulty out of box, box damage or minor cosmetic imperfections. These products will be fully tested and repaired where necessary by an authorised repair centre. Whilst many of these products will be in as good as new condition, we cannot guarantee refurbished products sold will be delivered in the original packaging and may have minor cosmetic imperfections such as scratches, marks or discoloration. Sony offers 2 types of refurbished product, Grade A and Grade B. Grade B products may have more significant imperfections than Grade A (and may have been used for more than 500 hours) and are priced accordingly. All refurbished products (Grade A and B) have a 12 month warranty.

The sound is pretty good.
Is it this model that had the issue with the headband being naff / fragile? If so, maybe a refurbished pair might be better as they may have fixed the problem!
Anyone know if Sony ever fixed the headband issue? As in, after a repair has anyone reported the issue not reoccuring? The sound is brilliant but even at £180 I'd avoid these if the headband is a ticking time bomb.
Really tempted but I gather Sony will just fob you off if the headband breaks. Probably even moreso for refurbs, I’d guess.

No. This is the model that had the problem.
Avoid and go for the newer model despite the cost.

LDAC is available at a cost and why would an OEM pay Sony to support only Sony LDAC supported products. Sure there's a cost for Aptx but it's supported by a quite a number of audio manufacturers.
The only way for LDAC to go forward is to make the standard freely available to audio manufacturers thus creating a demand for it being fully implemented on phones etc.
Ive received the headphones today, Spot on quality. - any my serial is not in the affected range of headphones that had issues

What was the condition like?
Wasn't the headband issue only affecting certain serial numbers? I read somewhere that it was 2 specific ones and the others were fine

Holding out for a new pair below £200 as I'm tired of shoving ear buds into my ear canals
