Don't think manufacturers warranty is valid, but you do get 1 year coverage from Amazon.

Then I stand corrected

nice thanks. Been waiting for the new ones to drop but sod it, 144 is too good to pass on

Review s are great on this and price is a steal but the cracking issues are putting me off. Can anyone say whether it's a common issue or a matter of just taking care of them?

Level of care and defective nature are two sliding scales. If you've got a defective unit and take extremely good care, no cracks. If you don't take care of a good unit, cracks.

Personally, no cracks on mine after 3 months ownership. I tend to use them while in the office and keep them in their case in the meantime so they're being looked after.

There was a certain serial range that was more likely to be affected I think, by the sounds of it though, Amazon (and potentially sony) will take care of it should anything happen.

Dropped to the same price at Currys too.

Currys link

So many photos of cracks in the exact same spot on the hinges. Checked different Amazon stores, all of them have these pics. Reviews with them appear in the summer of this year, so maybe these serial numbers were pulled off by now. No guarantee though.

Still, Sony acknowledged it was a design fault and yet took a long time to make it right with many customers. And seriously, they release a premium pair which got a bunch of praise in professional reviews and yet they put the cheapest plastic on the hinge in particular, which is the weakest spot? Wtf are they thinking?

M2 version of the same model incoming in the beginning of next year. I guess they fixed the issue with the new pair, and want to cash out on their remaining stock.

I believe the M2 version is already out now at some retailers.

I spoke to Amazon customer services on chat regarding ones bought from Warehouse and they confirmed that it would come with 2 years warranty. I don't believe that for a second so am now on the phone with them and trying to figure out what the warranty situation is.

These would be my commute headphones so they would be mistreated a little so I am sure they will crack at some point...

UPDATE: The service advisor on the phone mentioned 1 year warranty after putting me on hold for a while and then sent me an email to confirm, but nowhere in her email or the link she supplied does it mention a 1 year warranty: amazon.co.uk/gp/…641

Not sure I'm going to risk it from the warehouse.

Let us know how that goes!

Awesome sounding headphones and a great price, but the cracking issues are a very real problem. I took VERY good care of mine - minimal use and safely stowed in the case when not in use, but mine still cracked. If you are prepared for that to happen make sure you keep proof of purchase then Sony should sort that out under warranty.

Same, as a wireless noise-cancelling pair these are bound for outdoor usage and not for careful one at home. Horrendous design fault. Checking unboxing videos, Sony included a very nice hard shell case, high quality cables, packaging etc. Yet they didn't think that the hinges would be the weakest spot and put some cheap plastic there. Typical Sony these days, releasing an almost perfect product with a serious deal breaker to ruin it totally.

I usually go with build quality for HPs but I am very much on edge trying to find something which is built well, sounds well, is wireless and costs south of 300+ GBP. Most pairs manage to reach only 3 of these 4.

The sound on these 'phones is truly exceptional and so that's a great price. They're pretty chunky tho for out and about use.

Indeed.

Senn PXC550 / BTNC4.50 or Bose QC35 are much better portable options IMO.

After mentioning that the link doesn't mention 1 year warranty, they have just replied with the following:

From your mail I do understand you concern that you're unable to locate the written note for 1 year warranty included in Warehouse deals order. You wish to have further help from amazon.

Please be informed that there is no need to worry about it and I'll now do the needful for you.

Yes, I can also see that there is no written note for 1 year warranty on Warehouse deals order.

Please note Used products generally do not come with a manufacturer's warranty but all of our items are backed by Amazon’s satisfaction 1 year guarantee.

In this case you can return the item the faulty or defective warehouse deals item within 1 year for full refund.

Decisions decisions

You'll be protected by Amazon....I two pairs of fiil headphones...the wireless and the Diva...
Very nice indeed :0)

Something people need to bare in mind with the QC35 and indeed Senn PXC550/BTNC4.50 is that you can pair multiple devices simultaneously, this for me was hugely important.

I use my Sennheiser in the office, I'm paired to my phone for tunes and to my work computer for taking skype calls. The Sony will not allow simultaneous connectivity, you connect to one device or the other.

Was just about to post this myself but you beat me to it - great price !

Had mine for a month, use every day at the office and gym. No cracks so far and mine are apparently in the bad serial number batch. I think the cracking is most likely to happen when putting them on and taking them off so as long as you are careful with this they MAY be fine.

Guys I'm seeing £181, not £140 like others. I guess I missed out on those ones then?

Go through checkout and it knocks it off

Does anyone know the bad serial range?

Might risk it for £140 if u get warranty with Amazon...

Black Friday deals on a pair of QC35 though?? Hmm....

Mk2 version are better, and available. I've had them almost a month now. (Also far better than Bose QC35.)

Serial numbers 5000001-5256984. I have a pair that fall within that range and not had any cracking issues. Like guy above said, if you take care of them no probs.

not working gone all the way through to buy it but still shows 199. got there in the end lol. but coming up as 152

Taking care of them is irrelevant in some cases. People report the plastic becomes brittle even with only occasional usage and storing them in their correct pouch.

Big jump from £150 for a warehouse pair to £319 for the new ones though!

Same price now at John Lewis, and you can get 4 Avios per pound too from going via BA/Avios.

Picked up a pair Like New with delivery tomorrow for 150, absolute bargain

Just out of curiosity, can anyone with these MDRs comment on the bass level? I like a good amount of it, I'm not a fan of treble heavy sound.

Thanks OP!

Fair enough mate. Let's just say YMMV

Besides its amazon. If there are signs of cracking within a year just contact their excellent customer service.

If people are put off by the cracking issue then I recommend not to buy and move on. Could be that all these warehouse ones have cracks (it is strange how there seems to be so many) bit it's a risk worth taking. Return with refund no hassles.

To my ears, the bass is great. It's not booming like beats but well controlled. More than Bose QC for sure

mine arrived, serial number is outside of the defective range and no obvious defects. Let's hope they last.
