Been after a pair of these or the upgraded model for a little while so I had some camel camel alerts setup.

This one came in this morning. Cheapest they've ever been on Amazon too. Only on the cream model though as the black are still currently over £250.

The difference between the old model and the new doesn't really justify paying the extra £100~ in my opinion... But each to their own!

Could you not buy the used - very good and get 20% via the easter warehouse promotion.

Is it both old and new version prone to cracking?
Nothing is showing the 20% off warehouse for me anymore...

It's only selected items but if you want to only search these items. Go to the warehouse deals page and click on the 20% off banner.

There's no reason why you couldn't... Headphones just isn't something I think I'd want to buy second hand.

Don't take my word for it... But I've seen many different things written. I think the general consensus is that while some of the older models did crack... It's much less of an issue now and was blown out of proportion to some extent.

I guess if you're careful enough with them you should be fine? I plan on doing so anyhow.

Weird but I got told by amazon support that if I bought the headphones and spoke to them on chat then I'd get the 20% off

I suppose it's worth trying, if they said no you could always cancel the order. I believe if you do it shortly after ordering you can cancel with a few clicks before they take payment.

I've gone through that section and the items still don't add the 20%, nothing is... There's something I had in my "saved for later" that was showing the 20% the other day which isn't now as well...
Riiiight so the issue seems to be if you search in the section, although it says it's searching in the specials it then shows most items don't have the 20%
It does, this version cracks based on even occasional use with care over time like mine. Buy the newer version instead.
I tried them and sent them back, one of them is probably my old one lol. They suck, they are too heavy and too tight, the qc35s are a lot better because you can wear them all day and not notice them

It was between these and those for me. Opted for these as a lot of reviews claimed these were comfortable (admittedly not one person said they were better than the Bose there) but were also better for the sort of music I listen to more often.

I'll see how I go with them. If things don't work out, I guess I'll just jump ship down the line. Fingers crossed I don't have to though!

Everything looks the same between the two models though... I've seen people say they crack and I've seen others that have had them ages with no issue.

As I said above, I'll just take it easy with them. If they crack, then I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
Own a pair of these they are amazing 3 other people I know have bought some after listening to mine for a bit

Apparently it was only in the range of serial numbers starting 501**** to 526**** and Sony are replacing pairs that crack which have been bought from authorised dealers for the newer model free of charge.

I've had my 1000x headphones for a few months and love them.

Heard you the first time
Can someone tell me why a Chinese knock off for £20 Is not a better proposition. There's only marginal difference in quality.
It makes me so angry that Sony are so useless they can't make a pair of god damn headphones. What are they playing at with these cheap rubbish plastics?? I had so many pairs of the PS4 Sony 2.0 headsets and gave up buying them in the end due to the plastic headband cracking every time through light use. Sony refused to cover the headband cracking and this was a widespread problem. Just read the 1 star Amazon reviews of this product and it's like wow - not this again - the same issues on yet more expensive Sony headphones. It's totally unacceptable and I just don't get it. They don't care and seem to have no interest in sorting these issues out.

I missed them at £200 a few weeks back and was gutted. Set up alerts in CamelCamel. Was going to buy the newer model at John Lewis yesterday but couldn't use my gift voucher online meaning I'd have to go in store today. Then I woke up to this alert! Fate I reckon!

They sound fine, just not comfortable... I wear them for hours on end and cycle too. The Bose hold up there and they don’t make me sweat, the Sony’s are so unbearable for my use.
I already own a pair of these, and can confirm they're excellent.
Check the bad reviews and reconsider. I almost jumped on them.
I highly recommend skipping these and getting the upgraded ones. I have a pair and they’re amazing! Best headphones on the market on my opinion. The noise cancelling is amazing and the sound quality is perfect!

I have had a pair of these for nearly 2 years now, paid £320.
Very happy with them, no problems at all, very long battery life, excellent noise canceling and very good sound quality, although not as good sound quality as a pair of Sennheiser HD 598 I have had since 2015 which cost £80 in the black Friday event, but totally different beasts each excellent for what they are designed for.
If you are looking for some high end noise canceling headphones snap this bargain up you will not get better at any price let alone £179

Who would want to buy head phones second hand that someone else has had over their ears!! That’s trampy as f%$k. Ear infections anything, wax stuck on them.

Surely it’s not really trampy as f%$k, I’ve never known someone to have wax on the outside of their ears.

Who knows though, perhaps your ears are all covered in wax and if so thanks for the heads up, good to know, even hugging you must be trampy.
I've had mine for a year and they haven't cracked and work perfectly.
You can always find these for £169 on the Sony Centre refurbished page, thats where i got mine.

in the same boat as you are mate:) was waiting for this deal for a long time but have urbanite xl now, which are good but i guess not excellent. The only justification i find is that the sony is not the latest model.

Recently bought the newer version on amazon warehouse as like new condition for £210. Basically came brand new with only the box that had been opened. Well worth keeping your eyes out for a pair, 100% worth it, especially if using an andriod with support of LDAC audio...these are amazing for commuting and blocking out noise/people chatter.
If you want the black ones for £199 you might find them at a Dixons Travel if you happen to be flying through an airport with one.

I saw a pair at Gatwick North Terminal last week.
