Have been searching for the cheapest price for one of these for my Sony flash based camcorder. Price has just dropped from £83.49 to £74.99. That's the cheapest price I could find online. Maybe not a mega bargain, but every penny counts!

I know it will be cheaper on Ebay, but at least you know it is going to be genuine coming from Play.

8GB Memory Stick Pro Duo
High speed data transfer
Adaptor included

And don't forget your Quidco!

Sandisk sell one via amazon.co.uk for something like £68.

Postage is around seven days, and not the 4-6 weeks as advertised.

Just as good as the Sony one, too.

True, Sandisk one cheaper, but I specifically wanted a Sony to ensure compatability with my 'new' Sony camcorder. I think it may be picky and it is a lot of money if the Sandisk didn't work with it. And once it is opened they won't take it back. I have a Sandisk in my Sony digital camera that works fine.

memory stick pro duo is memory stick pro duo - it is built to a standard so your camcorder can't tell if it is a sony or sandisk. You will have no problems with the Sandisk card - I always buy them over the sony ones - they are cheaper, and do the job fine.

What do you mean 'compatability' - a mem stick pro duo is a mem stick pro duo no difference (unless fake).

As it is a new camcorder, some of the reviews I had read said there were compatability problems supporting an 8Gb card. The manual says it should, but someone had contacted Sony and they had said it didn't. There were varying reports of people having problems, but this may have been due to 'Ebay' fakes, I don't know.

What I do know is when I put in my 2Gb Sony card (from Play) I get an error message, but it does work.

Considering all the above I felt it safest to stick with a Sony Card for a Sony Camcorder to maximise my chances of it working.

As I said previously I have nothing against Sandisk and have some of their cards already. Jst in this instance I felt 'safer' with Sony.

I thought the Sony and Sandisk cards were produced in the same place anyway?

Could be wrong tho.............
