There are bezels and then there's Sony, yuck. The current Xperia's have aged even worse than I thought they would when they first launched.
Posted a couple of weeks ago. Better of buying on amazon or getting ao or Curry's to price match at £515. Groupon review's and customer service is dreadful.

True dat! Groupon customer service is absolutely appalling! I would never ever buy such a high value item from Groupon! NEVER EVER!
I have to say I have been a dedicated Sony fan for a while. I believe they have been right up there in regards to tech but never get the recognition they deserve ( Waterproof phones etc).My last phone is the Z3 Compact and Ive been pleased beyond belief but the screen is failing now so I need to upgrade. I was going to go for the XZ premium but it just looks soo bulky. I have to agree with Joeybuttface that they need to revamp the design. In terms of performance this phone is a beast. It blows away a lot of the high end phones in a lot of the tests but it just doesnt look the part anymore. Come on Sony!!! If they updated the look and put out a great marketing campaign this could be an amazing phone. Saying that I did think about getting the XZ1 but they decided to shrink the battery size...doh! I felt a 4k screen was over kill but Im also getting a taste for OLED screens and Samsung/Apple have got my attention with theirs.
Quidco gives 15% cashback on Groupon purchases. £425 isn't bad price for Sony xz premium

i used an xperia xz for a short while & was quite hesitant about doing so. I thought the bezels would be a pain in the a$$ and make it seem dated & it would be less aesthetically pleasing but I actually really liked the device. it seemed fast & smooth. the side mounted fingerprint scanner makes so much sense in my opinion. the screen was vibrant & the metal finish made it feel premium. I had a flip case on it for protection though so didnt get to enjoy the body as much as i'd have liked to. But for me (and i'm not really a sony fan) I was very impressed. Especially when it "only" has 3gb ram. I went from thinking i wasnt going to like it much to almost loving it!
If you're a sony fan i doubt you'll be disappointed.

What was the camera like in your opinion? I found the auto mode over does it a bit. Also, the only real gripe I had was that the shutter speed lag from pressing the camera button to taking a picture. Was a lot slower then its competitors and is pretty slow on my Z3.
XZ Premium is too big. Go for XZ1.
At least Sony are making some effort with looks, rather than the generic curved screen with glossy black trim with that LG, Samsung, OnePlus and so on are all doing. I rather like a lot of their designs personally.

I wish they'd offer more of the colour choices though, they seem to randomly add and drop colours so while there's usually one good colour in each model you'd often prefer a colour that a similar model gets. The retailer exclusive deals don't help either. The best XZ Premium is the Chrome one exclusive to carphone warehouse.
voted hot - best price thus far however im holding off for now. if rumours are correct Sony Xperia is due for a significant design update next year - google "Sony Mirai"

Coming from a Z3 owner; what effort? They've kept almost the same design since the Xperia Z original which is nearly? 4 years now? I've lost track but I have seen this phone in real life and those bezels mean it is huge. I would forgive that if it had exceptional battery life but best in class features but it is difficult to recommend.
What I really don't understand is why Sony's camera division can't talk directly to the mobile; the picture quality from their sensors should be exceptional given that they manufactured it themselves and they have shown skill in programming on the cameras.

It takes effort to keep a design consistent between dozens of models of different sizes, thicknesses, layouts and so on.

It's 2mm taller and 3mm wider than a OnePlus 5, not exactly a big deal on a large phone.

I loved my z3 as well but had z5 premium and was probably the worst phone I ever had... They lost me forever...

I'm surprised this is holding its price considering it's been yet another sales flop for Sony. That's a shame because this is one of the best phones of 2017 with the main downsides being the mediocre (again!) camera quality and those huge bezels. It's very close to stock Android, has beaten practically every single phone in speed tests, has great front facing stereo speakers and a fingerprint scanner in the most natural of places. Having experienced that 4k HDR screen in person it's a sight to behold. If only Sony had gone with an infinite display and marketed it better they could have made a comeback in the smartphone arena.

Whilst rumours are growing that Sony will finally change its massively outdated design for 2018 models and go with an edge to edge display, I can't help but think it's too little too late. I'm typing this from my now over three years old Xperia Z2, which at the time of release was one of the best and most forward thinking smartphones released. They really need to come up with better marketing. Coupled with a more modern design and better camera, that comeback might still happen. I somehow doubt it though.

Crap phone, can say because i own it. Sound and performance is good, the rest is awful, especially '' 4k'' screen, which works in a full hd mode with pixel grid on the screen that looks worse than any native full hd mid range phone,.
They can update the design all they want but people will still buy apple and Samsung. If you're spending this much on a phone I'd look at Toby deals. Or buy the Oneplus 5t direct from oneplus. £499 for the 128gb 8gb ram model.
I have been a Sony fan for many years. Had the Xperia S, T, Z1, Z3, Z3 compact, XZ and now XZ premium. Fantastic phone in every way. I am not a fan of big phones but there is much difference in the size when compared to the XZ. Phone is thinner too than the XZ so does help. Battery lasts me a day and a half depending on usage. Superb screen and camera.
I paid £479 for mine on black Friday from ao. com with price match against amazon.
Had the Z3 and Z5 compact, battery life was great however camera was poor despite the specs on paper, now got a Samsung S7, camera is superb but trade off is battery life is poor
I have had sony phones before and I would never buy them again, the quality of the phone is bad and the worst customer service ever. Also, when they breakdown they always come up with excuses not to fix your phone during the warranty period.
