Very good retailer, hot deal.

are the pictures from this as good as an rx100? (I know this has changeable lenses but I never will) and does this have optical image stabilization? is this massive compared to an Rx?

is this one better than Pentax k-r?tempted

The rx100 is a better camera overall, but its significantly more expensive than the NEX 3N. The NEX 3N has image stabilisation in the lens only, its a little bit bigger than an rx100 with the bundled kit lens.

I imagine the pics are better than an rx100 due to the larger sensor. Maybe depends on the lens. Try Dp review.com ? The rx100 is great btw, got one couple of days ago, I now have bokeh in my life.

My girlfriend got this camera from Asda a couple of months ago for around the same price. Lovely camera, very comparable image quality to my Canon 400D but the problem is the lack of decently priced lenses. For example the F1.8 prime for nex costs nearly double this price! No chance of an £80 nifty fifty.

A couple of excellent (at nowhere near double the body price) lenses with optical image stabilisation to make the most of the sensor:
Sony E50mm F1.8 OSS @ £199

Sony E35mm f1.8 OSS @ £379.00

Also a cheap but very good image quality producing Sigma:

Sigma 19mm f/2.8 @ £109.99

My mistake, I was remembering the 35mm price wrong. You're right to say that neither is anywhere double the price, but my point was that they are really expensive compared to the price of this bundle, and there isn't a great deal of cheap lenses to get you started like with Canon and Nikon. Like I said the nifty fifty (50mm 1.8) for Canon cameras can be bought for £80, that is less then half the price of the example you showed, it also begs the question of if the OSS is needed on a 1.8 apeture lens, I would prefer if they had produced a cheaper option without it.

The Sigma is a good option, I have that exact lens and I find myself confidently taking the camera out with just that lens.
Also I didn't mention the vast number of legacy lenses you can put on this thing with adapters, but it doesn't change my opinion that I wish there were more cheap lens options for a first time upgrader (my girlfriend went from a compact and complained about the lack of affordable lenses, she did stomach the price of the Sigma though).

I bought this camera on Sunday and it arrived today, the included SDHC card was an 8GB Sony UHS-1.

The 3N will have better sensor quality but the kit lens is probably worse (though of course you can replace it with better lenses)

If all you want is a pocketable camera with great image quality the RX is a great option

If are a budding amateur photographer the 3n is a better system to buy into

I have an NEX 5N and I would say if you are not interested in changing lenses get the RX100, it has a f1.8 Aperture and to get a lens with auto focus on an NEX camera your are looking at £300+ and thats a prime lens so you can't zoom.

You can also buy an adapter and use cheap pentax prime lenses. Some of the old pentax lenses are excellent and are relatively cheap on eBay.

Great picture quality, at this price it's a no brainer. I have used uk digital and the service is excellent.

Also got the 5th warranty logo in the listing. Is that in the price? Seems like it. Can someone confirm. Ta.
Scorchio from me.

does anyone have an opinion on how this compares to the fujiiflm x-m1 that was on here the other day? Because i ordered one the other day from amazon and its not in stock till the 3rd so could easily be cancelled, the price after the cashback etc on that is more or less the same.

The Fuji X-M1 is an excellent camera, I'd stick with that as its higher spec than the NEX-3N.

great thanks, its a bit more hassle because of the cash back but i think i will stick with it.

I'd spend the extra and get a 5R.

That is quite a jump in price though
