A really highly rated player this... even touted as a possible Nano beater by none other than cnet.co.uk.

8GB storage, 2inch colour LCD, video playback, as small as a Nano!

A quick check on Froogle shows cheapest online prices are ~£190 + postage, but if you reserve online at Comet and select collect at store you can get a white one for £175 or a black one for £179.

Can't understand what cnet are on about, the Nano does not play videos where as the NW-A808 does so why are they not compairing it to the iPod Video? That has 22Gb's more memory for only £4 more!

Yeah but when your out jogging your more likely weant to have a small nano sized player.

I'm not saying the Sony offer found here isn't a good 'find' if the Sony is what you want, I was commenting more on cnets comparison that the Sony was a Nano beater. I can't see why because the Nano does not play videos, iPod video 30Gb does and for around the same price.

On the other hand, as you pointed out, say you wanted a player for jogging then with the Sony you'd be getting video thrown in too for around the same price as the Nano. Having thought about it, maybe cnet are judging the models more by size than what they can do!?

Sony players are excellent but I'd never buy another one until they sort out their terrible SonicStage PC transfer software, iTune is bliss after using that!

If it's the same size as a nano and uses flash memory it's definitely a nano competitor, and if it plays videos where the nano doesn't then probably a nano-beater!

... and if it were around the same price as a Nano, but it's not ... you can get a 8gb Nano for £133
