This is the older version which uses Sonicstage. The newer 818 version can be had for less than this at Amazon and Play and has much better reviews.

I'd never buy anything from Empire Direct either. They have awful customer service.

Never had any problem whatsoever with Empire Direct. This Walkman also gets rave reviews. Some people, as reviews show, actually prefer the sonicstage.

Each to his own, but the reviews don't support what you say. Just look at the number of positive reviews for the 818 on Amazon and compare it with the number of reviews for the 808, which is discontinued anyway. Count the number of times the positive reviews for the 818 mention their relief that sonicstage is no longer compulsory.

Add in the fact that the 808 posted here is £10 more expensive than the 818 at either Play or Amazon with postage and it's a poor deal. The 818 comes with better headphones too.

I'm one of the few that get on OK with sonicstage and I favour the Atrac3 format, however I'd still go for the 818 over this due to the more flexible nature of music transfer with WMP or drag 'n' drop
