Great Walkman. Highly recommended with a 128GB memory card and a decent pair of headphones.

Nice player. Use it in the gym. Got it in black for £99 during Amazons electonics sale :O).

Any cheap sites to get hi res music?

Qobuz is a good site for hi res

Cracking player. had this a few months now having got it from the Sony site for about £130 inc cashback and code + got a £25 Qobuz voucher.
Got so much HiRes music and Qobuz tracks on it that I am considering the 128GB card as I am now consistently juggling the capacity on the player and a 64GB card.
Great sound, phenomenal battery life although I do have mine running through an amp.
Great price though from Amazon so hot.

Bought mine from Sony when it first came out last year for £169. Definitely worth it, great little player.

Surely a smartphone would be better

My HTC one phone can play flac files very good. Will this be even better?

Get an old Samsung s3 which has a Wolfson DAC. Then slap on poweramp and your laughing.

for extra functionality, a smartphone would certainly be better, as would having a touchscreen, but I knew what to expect when I got this......I simply wanted something small, with bluetooth and great sound quality, as I was a bit fed of lugging my note 4 around the gym......As I need it only for music if it was a phone then it would be the honor 4x with neutron music player loaded up as I didn't want to go over the £100 mark.....and for £99 from amazon, I for one am very happy with the player. I think the new ones come out soon or are out already......

tried one today and a bit disappointed, screen is "primitive",noise cancelling works if you have noise cancelling headphones,I have a older model and I prefer it

+1
Poweramp is the best!!

Hi-res, thank the lord for gullible consumers! (This pertains to 96k, not 24 bits)

£125 for 16gb that's somewhat Apple of them.

Qobuz is a good site for hi res

Qobuz is a great site. HDTracks UK regularly (at least it seems pretty regular) 15% off

bandcamp deals in FLAC

Wow, 125 quid for an mp3 player. Ridiculous

I am about to buy the new version of this Walkman, the NWZ-A25 (which is basically the same as the A15) but I crucially need to know if this will sound the same as Poweramp on a phone.

Poweramp is the best sounding player I have ever experienced and I cannot listen to any music without it anymore! Their BASS control is like nothing else out there, it sounds so perfect. But I want a dedicated MP3 player separate from my phone (yes I know we are a dying breed!)

I know the Walkman has EQ control and Sony's BASS system but I'm worried I will never be able to get it to sound like Poweramp, and at this price you could buy a cheap smartphone! If it doesn't sound like it does on that app then no sale I'm afraid!

I wish Sony's cheaper Walkman's ran on Android, the one that does is like £500! and already obsolete. Then I could get the best of both world's.

It's a music file player which can play Flac and other uncompressed files, it also has an amp in it which makes it sounds a lot better than a standard MP3/smartphone music player.

I sold my Ipod classic 160gb 6th gen on eBay for £180 because my Sony Xperia z3 compact phone + Samsung 128gb MicroSD + Xiaomi Piston 3 earphones made my Ipod obsolete. I was using a Samsung Galaxy Ace 4 LTE phone purely as a mp3 player + 128gb MicroSD + poweramp + Xiaomi Piston 2 earphones (total cost £120) before my Sony Z3c. You can turn any phone into a decent and cheaper alternative to a Ipod touch.

Are Sony players still gimped by the EU volume cap? I used to buy Sony's flagship model all the time, even when they forced you to use ATRAC and their horrible software, until the NWZ-A845. Unlike previous players you couldn't go into the service menu on the 845 and remove the EU imposed limit. I have since made do with my Android phones but there are times I'd prefer a dedicated player.

why?

What are some good in-ear earphones to go with this Sony player?
