Great find. You could also get RAC on top of this isn't it?? Heat n Rep given

Tempting

Got the black one from the £17.99 argos misprice last year.At this price it is still a bargain.Excellent headphones come with it too.

Can you add extra memory (I'm guessing no at that price)?

nope

Fairly cold. You are paying a big price for the Sony brand. Play.com's own brand mp3 player, while not quite so attractive, will do the job for less than half and double the storage:

The Sony one is in a different league. I have the Sony 2gb and i've had those play.com types, which are crap - getting to a specific song is a pain and they sound horrible too.

The Sony one is brilliant, incredibly user friendly, great sound, can put videos and photos on which is pretty nice when you view sideways in full screen mode, battery lasts ages, playlists are easy to make via a computer, etc.

Not only is the player great, but the earphones it comes with are brilliant!

Edit: It can also play a host of different file formats including wma and aac codecs, which is pretty good if you want your songs to take up less space but keep the quality.

the earphones are worth £27.99 ALONE (in my opinion!)

the rrp of the earphones are around £40 - although they did have them on offer on play.com previously for £12.99 but thats finished now!

Great mp3 player i got one due to the argos misprice as well. I would still be using it but i've bought the newer model (with iplayer support etc...)

this doesn't even compare to the cheapo players!

not bad, not worth it from a resale perspective

CNET rated this 8.5 while the rated the latest nano 8.0 saying that this had one of the best sound quality of any mp3 player. In fact, they only said that it's successor had a better sound quality. I've had this since Christmas 2007 and feel that it is a quality piece of kit...better than any ipod and incredibly durable...the included headphones alone merit the price

Be warned with these. They do not have access to some of the feature available to the more recent models such as iPlayer compatibility. However, this is a good price, I got mine for £40 in January, great little MP3 player.

Worth every penny. I got the 4GB model last year from amazon for £49.99. Just drag and drop music files into folder (USB connection from mp3 to PC). No need for software to transfer music. 2GB is plenty for anyone. Earphones are also top quality. A much better player than the ipod.

Ive had the 2gb sony, sounds better than my ipod to be honest unless I plug my seinheissers in...

You cannot compare a play branded mp3 player to a Sony video walkman! The walkman does so much more and has a brilliant quality screen (I thought the screen would be far too small to watch a video on, but I tried it and its fine).

Plus the play.com player is more than half the price, not less.

anyone who appreciates music should stay away from those cheap players!

btw i don't think £27.99 is a big price at all!

Fair play. I didn't vote cold because it's still a good deal for this particular player. I was just pointing out a cheaper alternative as the storage on this model is (unfortunately) weak.

No offence, but I could have pointed out a cheaper alternative in the form of sellotaping a cassette player to your ears and it'd have been just as valid as yours!

well people DO buy things from this site in order to sell on fleabay, aint saying im one of em

I have to agree with the people who said this Sony mp3 player is good. It is indeed a very good mp3/video player. In the market you can get 2gb mp3 player for less than £15. But this is in different league. You are getting what you are paying for. I paid £80 when it came out first. It produces much better sound than any ipod despite i own ipod touch. May be it is because of sony headphone. I don't know. But for this price, you will regret if you don't buy it.

The headphones are worth about that, and thePC lead is £45 from sony, worth buying if you have the 4 or 8 gig version for spares.

Thanks to OP- just ordered one and given you rep:thumbsup:

Do anyone know if these have 3.5mm headphone jacks?
