works for PS2 as well I think - but do your own research to confirm before buying.

Red is correct the instruments work on both consoles (ps2 game might work on ps3 but missing out features)

anyone know the price on the 360 version??

Original Poster

xbox360 version is £84.99 at play .com

Does anyone know if the drums in this set wireless please?

no they are not

****** 85 quid for that!!! All i want are some drums to break

Cheers - will give this a miss then.

Just a heads up - You might not find the singstar for £4.97 as it was a misprice - meant to be price at £14.97 . So if it has already been changed, then thats the price. if it hasn't, then you can try and argue your case and hopefully get somewhere...

Tempting... VERY tempting. Don't think I've got room to set up the drums though.

which is better, this or guitar hero world tour?
and why?
thanks

Is the same price for 360 bought it a couple weeks ago... but better offers had been voted cold so i didnt post :s

rock band because the positioning of the notes feels like you are playing,

guitar hero well, the notes don't feel right, the notes dont always follow the music

Anyone know where I can get a digital desktop drum kit for my PC that's half decent? I want to learn drums but have limited space.

The general consensus is Rock Band is superior. I couldn't tell you why myself as I haven't play GHWT.... but just check out some of the big review sites (IGN, Gamespot, etc).

...but that the kit for GH is better than RB's.

Off topic, can anyone tell me this? RB1 is apparently not fully compatible with the GHWT instruments (drums don't work) but RB2 apparently is. Given that you can import your RB1 songs into RB2 with the appropriate add on, could I buy RB2, then import the songs from RB1 to get round the lack of compatibility for RB1 or will that not work? I'm talking about PS3 version by the way.

Thanks for this...anyone know the cheapest place to buy Rock Band the game for PS3?

There's definite not a unanimous opinion on whether GH or RB software or hardware is better. I'd take RB for both all the way. Lots of people have had RB kit break... but lots of people have had GH:WT kit break too! I could say a LOT more on the merits of each game but I come across as too much of a fanboy to be taken seriously

If the instrument compatability works as you say, then that's true. Once you export the songs from RB1, then you're just playing RB2 no matter what song whether RB1,RB2 or downloaded, so you get all the features of RB2. So GHWT drums for RB1 songs in RB2 will be fine if GHWT drums for RB2 songs in RB2 are fine.

Asda are selling the same intrument pack for £50, I bought mines from the Coatbridge store a couple of weeks back.

I don't know the good prices at the moment aside from find-games.co.uk and stuff, but I do know that you should buy Rock Band 2 and any Track Packs you want (AC/DC and misc songs) new: you get one time use codes so if you're online you can download extra songs or the contents of that Track Pack into RB2. And once you have used the code, you don't need to keep the Track Pack discs if you don't want to... those songs are in RB2 now!

And you only need to borrow/rent/buy used Rock Band (RB1). Pay a one time charge online (it's 400points or $5 on 360, dunno on PS3), it copies nearly every song, about 63 of them to the hard drive, and they can be played along with all your other songs in RB2. You don't have to play RB1 at all! (unless you really want to, but RB2 is better). You can now return/sell RB1.

I'm ethically OK with this and don't see it as against the rules for posting here to describe all this since they talk about it on the official RB forums all the time - you're paying an export fee and using one time codes, so it's all quite legit. You basically get over 200 songs for not much more than the price of the RB2 disc if you resell all the other discs!

edit: looks like they didn't even release any PS3 song packs here except AC/DC yet! Well Classic Rock is coming out soon. Get AC/DC only if you really like them, but Classic Rock pack has loads of variety. Buy it new, use the code, instantly sell it.

il be waiting for guitar hero world tour to become cheaper as the drums have five pads and not four.. but still hot deal

FWIW I visited a local Currys store and Singstar Vol3 was marked up at 15 pounds.

Yup, seems its gone up iin price....was it a misprice. It on;y seemed to be £5 for 2 days, then it shot up to 15!

Great thanks for the advice! Guess its a matter of looking for RB2 bargains now, I'll try renting RB and see if I can copy the songs to the ps3 hd, that was my plan anyhow but never thought of doing it by renting.

Ha, very true. I had a guitar break on my GHWT kit (Muse's Assassin accounted for the strum bar) but it was replaced by the retailer. Funny, as previous versions of the kit have always been fine for me.

Personally I prefer the feel of the drums on the GHWT kit over RB, but I don't want to stray any further off topic. Thanks for the tips on RB1/RB2. It's such a shame that there is so much overlap between RB2 and GH:WT.

when is RB2 due out as would rather wait for that? I want the drums for the wii.

They didn't release new RB2 instruments in the UK yet even though it's been out on 360 for ages now. Still don't think they have a planned release date! They just expect you to buy an instruments box like this (well the one for the wii if you have a wii!) and use it with either RB1 or RB2 or any of the other spinoff games.

And RB2 game only for Wii keeps getting pushed back on release date in the UK. 26 Jun 2009 says amazon right now! But my above advice about exporting the RB1 songs to play in RB2 does NOT apply to the wii version - it's much more limited in that respect unfortunately. So you might as well pick up an RB1 or RB2 disc new or used and whatever drums or guitars or mics you want whenever you see them cheap or available.

Don't wait for RB2 - play RB1 now, it's about 67 extra songs to play that you can't play in RB2 on the Wii!

The special edition The Beatles: Rock Band game due out on 360/PS3/Wii on 09/09/09 will have very nice new guitars, drums, mic, mic stand all included, and they'll work with the other games too. But it'll cost you, and might be limited availability.

Incidentally, apparently the Wii version of RB1 is a watered down version that barely resembles its 360 and PS3 bigger brothers. No DLC, no world tour mode, and generally less options. RB2 fixes this though, with nothing missing. When it comes to the Wii, GHWT is probably a better buy than RB1, although it may still be RB2>GHWT>RB1. TBH I'm shocked that the Wii version isn't out yet, I thought it'd be released the same day as the PS3 version (as originally planned).

After playing RB1 (both watered down PS2 and then full 360 version) , I couldn't stand the full 360 version of GHWT (played all the way through, but then went back to RB). I just do not like the direction Activision/Neversoft took with the series from GH3 onwards (GH1 and GH2 were developed by Harmonix who then went on to do Rock Band). It just doesn't feel right to me.

But yeah assuming that instrument compatability is OK on Wii (haven't checked) then you can get one set of instruments and try both games and if you don't agree with my subjective opinion that RB2(360/PS3)>RB2(Wii)>RB1(360/PS3)>RB1(Wii/PS2)>GH2>GH1>GH80s>GHWT>GH3 then you are entirely wrong

thanks for the feedback so in reality RB1instruments could be used on RB2 game if I brought that? Or have I missed the point

They haven't even released RB2 instruments in this country, not sure if they ever will! This box is all there is!

But yes you can use any Rock Band instruments for your console on any Rock Band game, and you can usually use most Guitar Hero etc. instruments too (depends on which console though).

oh well I won't bother waiting will keep eye out for RB1 instrument set then. Many thanks for your advice
I know I missed the cheap band in the box from Asda so will see what other Wii offers come up
