i wouldnt use amazon after my laptop went out of its one year warranty period and they wouldnt even consider the sales of goods act, why people love amazon i dont have a clue. I dont know what scans service is like, but i wouldnt give amazon my money. plus its a £14 saving which could mean you can go get yourself a game or two

Did you try going to the manufacturer? Amazon aren't obliged under the sales of goods act after a year long warranty expires, but you might have a case against the manufacturer. Depending how long ago this was, Go into your local Trading Standards office, while the laptop is out of warranty, you've every right to reasonably expect that the laptop would last longer than 1 year. The classic example they give is a washing machine breaking down 3 months outside of warranty, the manufacturer can be strong armed into making a repair, even if they don't replace the unit.

Heat for the deal, but really it is personal preference where you want to get your console from. I ended up getting mine in Game because I wanted to get it from a shop I could walk into and get a replacement if it wasn't right.

your contract is with the retailer not the manufacturer. Your ultimate sanction would be to take the retailer to small claims - not the manufacturer. But you are spot on in recommending trading standards or consumer direct who offer excellent advice. In the above case the retailer should arrange a repair or offer a partial refund (you have used it for a year after all).

i got my full money back just about after 5 months of emails and calls, but i wouldnt buy anything again from them, they couldnt understand the fact that the item should last a reasonable length of time, and all they could say is that it is out of warranty we aint obliged to do anything. So bearing that in mind next time i buy anything and its out of warranty they will definately be doing the exact same thing, as i spoke to many different amazon advisors none who knew how to deal with the situation, so to everyone buying anything from them beware.
