Classic PlayStation design

Everyone has vivid memories of the first ever PlayStation – it's a piece of gaming history. And with the Sony PlayStation Classic you can relive all your greatest moments.

The PlayStation Classic has all the charm of the original, it's just 45% smaller. But everything has been scaled down perfectly - the logo, buttons, and even the packaging all looks exactly as it should. Well, everything is smaller except the controllers - they're the exact same as back in 1994. And because you get two controllers in the box, you can play your friends or siblings just like you used to.

20 games included

It's practically impossible to find PlayStation 1 games anymore, but the Classic comes with 20 games pre-loaded so you can jump straight into nostalgia. Take on Final Fantasy VII without having to switch discs mid-way through the game, or try quirky games like Jumping Flash in the original format.

And when it comes time to save – there's a virtual memory card. No more worrying about someone losing your precious data, or having to clear dust out to get it to work.

Is the latest Raspberry Pi comparable to this?

You can pick u a RasPi 3 for not much more than this and the gaming capabilities are far superior. You can install RetroPie which will play all PS1 games and basically every console before it. A lot of N64 games work on it too.

Just get a micro-sd card and load it up with an image from here and you're good to go.

I picked up 2 retro SNES controllers on Amazon warehouse for about £7. They have enough buttons to play pretty much everything (N64 games get a bit sketchy cos the controller is mental).

So for a not much extra £ you can build yourself a much better retro gaming console with a RasPi, yes.
If you need any help setting one up just drop me a message.

You can do it yourself. You literally drop files onto a USB stick and put it in. Google Autobleem.
Worth noting it's still full price in store the

I'm not a massive gamer anymore. I bought the Snes mini thinking I'd love it, sold it after a couple of days, retro gaming just isn't for me. I know people say it's not all about graphics but it really is, I can't play anything that looks crap and pretty much all my mates are the same bar one.
Got one ordered. Anybody know if Wip3out (gotta love the 90's!) is easily available and runs OK?

Good point, whilst were at it, may as well post in all the PS4 game threads and tell them to just buy an exploited console and play all the games for free!

Hooray for piracy!
Got mine this evening, maybe those PS1 memories were through rose tinted spectacles!!!

Nice. Thanks for the info.
Will bite at 99p
Will bite when it comes free with a happy meal
Picked on up from Friern Barnet, Heat +
Reserved yesterday and collected fine today. £26.99 is a decent price for it.

Worth it for Destruction Derby alone.

How do you enable High Res mode in Autobleem?

How do you enable High Res mode in Autobleem?

Go to Game Options under the title you want to play and there's a tick box thing for High Res, and Speedhack if the game runs slow with High Res switched on
Can more games be added on this?
