Can I play physical Japanese PSP games on my television using this thing? And if so, how bad do the PSP games look on a big screen HD set?

I believe it's PS Vita games not PSP, but I don't know if it's region locked. Vita games shouldn't look too bad though!

if you mean, does it play umd's, then no.

I get that I can plug this into a TV in another room and play but.... Can I take the pstv device to a friends house and stream over the Internet. Saves me taking the console?

the input lag is ridiculous they need to fix this. Good price though

Brilliant deal! Ordered!

physical PSP? Nope.it does play digital PSP games and both physical and digital Vita games (a selection of compatible ones that don't heavily rely on touch screen controls etc).

I don't own one just yet but based on my research Vita games look great on it,it also upscale them to 1080i if I'm not mistaken..

If it's in low-power it's all gravy.

For the other comments: Vita upscaled is hit and miss in my opinion - YMMV in what you believe is decent though!

So, so long it's plugged in and on sleep you can turn it on using the ds4 from anywhere with an internet connection?

you can get the cross platform version that is on ps vita yes but only if it has been enabled to work on pstv so it's hit and miss really.

Fascinating.

thanks just bought! don't forgot upto 3% quidco! heat added

Got one of these, its quite handy IMO. A few things:
You'll probably need a memory card if you want to do more than just remote play your PS4, (it takes expensive Vita one), as the onboard is only 1gb.
You can't region switch like the big consoles, you can do it but you have to factory reset each time which is a pain.
You will need a spare DS controller to even start it up, it's also probably best if you have a 2nd pad, as they are only paired to 1 console at a time. So, you would have to use a USB cable each time on startup if you had a single pad to share between PSTV and PS4, say.
It's 720p max.
Only Vita games which *don't* use the back touch area work, check en.wikipedia.org/wik…mes for compatabilty.
You can download and play all those Vita games you have stored up on Plus 'just in case'
Remote play is actually quite playable if you turn on direct connection in your PS4 settings, the sound can sometimes be a bit iffy though.

seems to be a good deal, although I have to say I have no interest in playing those 3 free games (even for free)
I have zero interest in streaming PS4 aspect of it.
I just want to play certain VITA games on my TV,that I missed since I sold my VITA,and this product seems to be the cheapest/more logical way to do that instead of re-buying a Vita for just few games.

Showing OOS now :-(

Shame you can't play the bench mark games like Uncharted.

It's to do with the router, you need a 5hertz router which isn't the standard model supplied by your provider.

even better buy a powerline network adapter so it's all running through ethernet, rock solid with next to no lag then.

I have a PSTV and love it. Primarily use it to remote play the PS4 in my bedroom. Yes there is a little lag but it's not terrible. You can enable higher framerates now with the newer firmwares which improves remote play.

A lot of the good Vita games are unsupported though which is a shame.
Got mine from Gamestop for £39.99 not that long after launch so dunno if they are still that price but might be worth checking.

They support Vita physical games and Vita/psp digital games although not all games as mentioned.

Can use either a PS3 or 4 controller.

Can you download and play PS1 games via this?

These are a great buy for the money, I really recommend them.

For people complaining about lag, there are several guides online advising how to improve your network performance which can help - if you're using wifi, make sure to disable 'use wifi in power save mode' as that really reduces your wireless performance and is enabled by default.

Yes, from PSN. It doesn't have PS3 remote play (unlike the Vita/PSP), so you can't play disc based PS1 games via that, sadly.

Thanks for the answer! Think i'll buy 1 and get some PS1 games downloaded...

Looks like it out of stock.

I have a PS4 hard wired to an R7000 router. This is then hard wired to a switch in the next room which has the PSTV connected running to a 720p tv. No lag, amazing picture on remote play and no probs with sound. Tried it over wi-fi and apart from a problem waking the PS4 up it still played flawlessly. This was on racing, lego, shoot em ups and other stuff that involved precise timing etc. Not a probelm so far here.

Wow, thats one really, really, really slow router you have and the antenna must be the size of the Earth's circumference. Probably get a good signal anywhere though...

got one off ebay for £30, which seems average price without code for PSN games, and i'm both impressed and disappointed.

this thing is TINY, and killzone : mercenary looks amazing on a big screen, but there are a lot of games that are incompatible either due to touchscreen requirements (some become compatible with a ps4 pad but largely it's a stupid requirement, killzone got patched to non-touch controls easily), or for no apparent reason (a LOT of psx classics and less visually demanding games are incompatible - i suspect laziness in testing/porting).

great price new with the game codes, and useful for anyone with ps+ but no vita but the vita is a great console that never got support so is dying a death - only games it gets are ported indies these days. poor games compatibility and bad app support (this could be a must-have if it supported better streaming/media sharing)

don't have a ps4 so can't comment on game streaming

I really don't think I'd use this if I bought it... I mean you may as well just move your ps4 if your that desperate for a game... and I love playing vita games on the vita they feel more interactive on a small screen up close to me...
still good price

Don't fancy moving my PS4 around when someone else wants to watch the main TV, but each to their own

Have you tried this, taking the pstv to another house and playing your ps4 on it?

Does it actually work well in reality?

I can't as my upload speed is too slow on my home connection. It really needs 2MB+ upstream (not normal downstream) in order to work well.

Plenty of people have managed it well enough though - I think the thread below on NeoGaf had a few people who were happy with things, but can't recall without reading it all.

neogaf.com/for…ht=

In summary, if your upload connection is fast enough, no reason it can't work at all on most internet connections away from home.
