Sony PlayStation Vita WiFi + 3G £190 from Vodafone with £5 topup and WipEout 2048 - instore

Found 16th May 2012
Noticed this price drop in my local Vodafone store, and couldn't find a better price online.

The Vita costs £190 and has to be bought with a £5 topup which gives you 250MB for 30 days.

You also get WipEout 2048 for free when you use the topup

Enjoy!

Seems good for the 3G version, are they locked to vodafone?
Is this the first signs of a proper price drop for the Vitas?

Just one word:

Uninformed.
Is this nationwide? Is there signs up about this in store?
Didn’t Sony project 10m Vita’s to be sold within the next 12 months?

This can only happen with a price drop and even then I don’t think they will hit that target.

If a price drop is coming it wont be till after E3.

It was in a display case behind the till at the Bristol store I went to, it wasn't advertised as a promotion though it seems

This is the reason I didn't buy one yet I knew it would be sitting there collecting dust like my PSP

And there will probably be a major price drop at E3

Went to my local Vodafone store today at lunch to confirm the price and buy one. The guy at the counter confirmed that the price is £190 + £5 top up but did not have any in stock but told me to come on Friday they should have some in stock. It's a great price for the 3G version, which cost me £280 at launch, so gonna wait till Friday and get one, while in the meantime hoping that Amazon price matches it, cos I do need a memory card as well.

...a "BioShock" (universe) title has also been discussed.

The Japanese market should really "take off" with "Monster Hunter Portable 3" & this may prompt other publishers to transpose their large(r) franchises to the new platform.

Back in Europe/the UK, I'm not sure "Little Big Planet" on the new console will help. It's a big investment for just one title that is already available on the PS3 & PSP range. However, when the entire roster of titles is then viewed as a whole it may be a pursuading factor to influence a purchase.

No.
Nobody in their right mind will hate the Vita once they actually play one. Seriously, the criticisms I am hearing are a load of BS and probably originate from people who have never actually seen (the first step) or played one (the second step).

I've currently got Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Unit 13, Wipeout 2048, Lumines: Electronic Symphony, Super Stardust Delta and Motorstorm RC. And that excludes the freebies that I got off PSN such as Frobisher Says! (genius game) and the AR games.

Buy one, play it and enjoy. I personally think this is probably the best machine Sony has ever made.

What games have you played on your Vita?

I don't own one, but I've played Rayman, Uncharted (completed), Little Deviants and FIFA. It's a great piece of kit that has almost no reason for the vast majority to consider it.

Why? Has the "vast majority" got a Nintendo handheld console, or an Apple iPhone/iPad?

I don't, but even if I did it does not mean I cannot own more than one of these devices.
tempting that's a really good price for the 3g model, anyone know how long this deal is for?
Just hurry up with the damn PS1 support!

Heat for the price though!
what do you mean locked to? does it matter you cant do anything on 3g except register trophies

I took the question to mean whether game titles intended for an overseas market ("Imports" of foreign territory products) could be played on a European/UK supplied console.

Think of it as sending your "move" in a game by an SMS text message. When your opponent receives your "move" their game is updated accordingly & they can then "move" & send the result back to your console, & so on.Perhaps only you, fluffy, know if you can afford the extra outlay now for the benefit the additional facility may bring in the future. You cannot retro--fit a 3G module/component later, however. There will be ongoing 3G data SIM costs, too. When you top-up the in-box Vodafone 3G SIM card with at least £5 you will also receive a redemption code to download "WipEout 2048" from PlayStation Store. However, you will need a memory card to store the download on...

Because it doesn't offer enough for the vast majority of people. Smartphones, kindles and tablets have all cut into the handheld market and there's nothing compelling about the Vita. It's a nice piece of kit but it's just of another time, which is why sales are where they are.
Does it come with a free rootkit?
Like almost everyone else, I'll wait until a really tempting cheap bundle deal comes along with a game and memory card for £150 ish.
3G is pointless

You managed to play (&, presumably, enjoy as you finished one of them) two exclusive titles for the console, though.

Do you consider Nintendo's handheld products "of another time" as well?
