Great sounding headset, but terrible build quality, the hinges are just 2 thin tabs of plastic either end and break easily, also the plastic arch holding it all together is prone to cracking easily.

I wouldn't say they are terrible for this sort of price. I don't know why the hinges should be a problem unless you have an unusually large head or just don't look after them properly. Only problem I have found is the vinyl starts to wear but I have used mine a lot for a few years and that's only just started happening.

Ditto with mine few years of use and only issue is the vinyl peeling.

Fantastic headset,had nearly 2 years,look like new....

Treat carefully and they will last.

Good headset, I have mine for one year and no issue, looks like new.

Great headset , I've had mine for 2 plus years and no issues. I generally use them on the ps4 and ps3.

These jve been sub 50quid for years now!!

Just search hukd lol

Great sounding headphones but i agree about the build quality. I look after my items and both hinges snapped on mine after 18 months and the vinyl is coming away on both sides. But for the price there's not much better.

Smyths have the white ones in at some of the stores too. I've been wanting to get a pair of the white ones for a while but keep missing out on the deal when it's posted at £50.

Thanks op!

Great headset, perfect for games like rainbow 6 siege where you need to hear everything and pin point that direction (although you should turn off the surround sound as it messes up the direction element). However, they're always around 50 quid.

Very comfortable and sound alright. Microphone position is the issue for me. Had two pairs and with both of them most people struggled to hear me. Wouldn't buy again for that reason, would think about the model up if you use them a lot.

This feels like it cost £10 to produce

I've had one for 2 years. Pretty good for that price but the sound quality isnt that great. Dead on for general use though.

Great headphones but not a great headset in my experience...
I don't know if it's because I have a deep voice but nobody could hear me clearly with these (the mic is on the ear cup).

The original Pulse headset can sometimes drop the connection but the pull-out mic makes it a better headset.

No large head here lol and I keep all my gaming peripherals in a clean state and safe place when not in use, if you look on the Sony forums and other reviews it is quite a common complaint with this headset, hence why they sell the platinum model with a steel frame instead of plastic

You're probably about right. £10 for parts and labour. Add on R&D costs, packaging costs, Sony's profit, delivery costs, Smyth's profit and VAT which all make up the other £40.

I'm quite squeaky and it still doesn't work for me I find changing the angle of the headband makes a huge difference, but they're not nice to wear with the band sharply angled forward.

Probably not, unless I put them over my PSVR.

You guys that are having issues with people hearing you, you do have them on the right way dont you? Having the left and right on the wrong way round causes the mic to be muffled...

I love these, but yeah they can break easily. I had mine for many years before they broke, but when they did I was surprised they held on as long as they did, because it's a very thin bit of plastic keeping the pins in place. Also occasionally these have dropped much cheaper, but still thinking of jumping in....

I've used these for skyping landlines, one example, to call ebay customer services. I think the call center was in the USA due to the accent and there was a slight delay, but she heard me perfectly over a 15 minute phone call.

hot

They are good. I still have my 3 after Amazon repeatedly sent me them

Bought mine 2 months ago at Sainsbury's 4 £44.99

Thanks very much for posting. Mine finally gave up the ghost last night, left side had snapped and was held together with masking tape and right side snapped. Had them since launch so I think that's 4 years of regular use.

Bought these last month fantastic headset

Excellent sound quality and really comfortable to wear.....however build quality and the materials used are shockingly poor.

Even though I have been really careful with mine the hinges have broke and the band across the top has cracked and split and now they are held together with gaffer tape.

I have not treated them rough as I always look after my things. There are load of forums where people are complaining of there headphones falling apart.

Personally I would give them a miss and buy the version 2 headset with the metal headband. The fact that Sony have released a newer version with a metal headband is sort of them admitting that version 1 was strong enough!

Mine set is still perfect nearly a year of daily use.

I was kidding btw

This ^

I’ve had a pair since 2014 and they’ve had a lot of use on PS4, PC and now Switch. Only issue as some others have mentioned is peeling vinyl. I wear glasses and find these very comfortable although do get a bit of a warm head at times as they’re quite large and padded. I honestly don’t think they’re that fragile so not sure why some ave had trouble with hinges. I’m looking for a new pair but waiting for sub £45.
