calibre does convert to kindle, its called mobi very good

Really want an e-reader for my uni books (.pdf format) but there's so many different types about and it's so confusing!! Is this the cheapest e-ink reader around and is it worth the money? How does it compare to the Kindle?

also screen size is useless for pdf anyway, kindle can rake pdf and display it sideways so you scroll down instead. not sure about sony. if u borrow ebooks from the library then they will be epub.

calibre will also turn text based pdf's so mobi. so will work on the kindle and some turn out pretty good!

what kind of books are they? just mainly text?

Mainly text but the odd B+W photos or diagrams thrown in just to be awkward :oS

Have been using a pdf. reader on my HTC Desire HD at the moment but doesn't save progress and is a bit of a strain to read.

Also FYI I've recently purchased the kindle 3 and I've put PDF's straight on to it with no need to convert or anything.

I bought my Mam one of these when they first came out. It looks very good and stylish. The Kindle looks pretty cheap to me.

I would say kindle then, with pictures/photos you can click on image to zoom in and display full screen.

also has built in dictionary and and you can download free thesaurus and that.

The 3g is useful if you need to do abit of research and are not near wifi. great article mode for easy reading on websites
