Will these actually work? I bought an official red and gold one from China and neither of them worked properly. I assumed it was because they weren't compatible with UK machines???

It's most likely because they weren't official. China is full of knock offs. I ordered a White Controller a few years ago now from Japan and that still works to this day on my UK PS3.
is this site legit? never ordered from hem before..
Don't be silly, the official controller are made in China, it is written at the back
how long deilvery time ?

Thanks OP - I recently ordered from Dealextreme - their PS3 controllers are good value at about £12-13:

dealextreme.com/p/d…m=3

Yes there are downsides - you have to wait for the item to come from China, but the savings are excellent and the product is good.

Yes, but that doesn't prevent knock offs. China is full of them across multiple industries. Have a look on the internet just to see how bad it is. Many car manufacturers have tried to sue chinese car makers due to them creating knock offs of their designs but the chinese government side with the knock off companies everytime. The same is true for other manufacturers. They no longer bother sueing for copyright infringment because they never win.

If you want to pay double, please go ahead - I bought these controllers for young children and they have been excellent. Look at the feedback of these controllers on the dealextreme website. Good feedback with some limitations of course.
I have black, white, silver, never knew there was green or pink?
Yup, i imported a pink one for my GF
pink hahaha

ordered white ,

for my shiny gloss white ps3 slim

They look naked without the Sony brand on them. It shouldn't but I know that would annoy the hell out of me. Everytime I looked at them i'd feel like a cheap ass lol.
Cheers OP, been after a Classic White for a while now and that's much better than the £45+ most places seem to want
Just ordered a blue one from dealextreme - cost about £10.71 - not bothered about the Sony brand as long as they work!
what are the fakes like (eg.playing BF3/COD/FIFA?) is R3/L3 alright do they stick? are they a bit loose? might take the cheap ass option here
The Chinese ones may work but the analog sticks are very poor, also will wear out quicker as with all cheap Chinese goods! Buy for the long term and youl save money

I'd feel dirty buying one of these.... Gonna have to take a shower for clicking the link... Don't bring your filth here again!

Agreed! Even if by some chance, you get a great working chinese knock off, Sony are blocking them all the time with each firmware update. It's not worth the hassle.
meh nothing will ever beat this bad boy

Shame it's to nice to use though!

The reviews on Dealextreme aren't too promising:

dont even try to play in shooters (MW, Killzone etc). Pointers are not good as original and you simply cannot aim.

and

As others have mentioned, the buttons are slightly harder than on a Sony controller. The digipad and analog sticks are also a bit less sensitive to motion than an official one: it takes more "force" to get them moving in a direction, and when they do start sending the signal to the console, it's easy to be too much - i.e. the gap between "sneaking" and "running" in games that are sensitive to the force and position of the digital/analog pads is a bit smaller than on the official Sony controllers. This might improve with time, however, and the user should also be able to learn the feel of the controller in a short time.

I dont understand this fetish with controller designs,I have basic black controller and still kick ass X)
i have two black ones if i didnt i would jump all over the blue one, but i guess i give this a miss

Yes agree with you about copyright infringment in China. But ordering a controller from Japan doesn't mean they are better, my point is they are all made in China. If you think made in Japan means quality you should check out what Olympus does.

I hope for your sake that it does work, considering a lot of third party / unbranded controllers have been blocked by Sony updates.
man, these things are expensive!

no wonder sony are in debt to a tune of 4 billion. the ps3 been out what 4 years ish and there still close to £30.

hot deal as its a good price but cold for sony

There's a difference to losing 4 billion and being in debt by 4 billion
PS3's been out more than 4 years btw.
IMO best all-round controller of all the current gen devices.

I didn't mean that it was better because i ordered my white controller because it was from Japan. Of course it isn't. When i mentioned Japan, it was to answer chrisIW's question in which he assumed that the chinese controllers were not working properly because of him not having a chinese ps3. Sorry for any confusion.

might be the best but as i said still expensive.

paying for a name.
These are available on ebay for under £6

However, they don't last five minutes on games like COD, Battlefield and FIFA type games as we have found out. The left stick breaks after a while

expensive in comparison to what though?

Looks a good deal, variety of colours.

Bookmark this page for when I get a PS3 320GB Slim in the summer.

Why don't some of you look into buying an original then just take the case off and spraying it your own colour?

In my experience the Japanese are fairly honourable people you buy something listed as genuine from there chances are it will be. (Whereas China (ebay) is likely stuff that didn't pass quality control. Hong Kong is same junk but passed quality control). Incidentally there is allot of parasites in this country selling china junk as genuine.

The China government sided with Apple once (Which although it is rare it does happen).

Don't see why people want Sony stuff though they are pretty much the worst company there is in terms of how they treat their customers.

CD rootkit
Stupid proprietary memory card formats.
Blueray (Forced trailers / ad's etc)
Removing Otheros (And not giving it full access to start with).
Removing games that people have purchased (PSP games for the Vita) so they cannot be redownloaded.

Total joke company (SEGA / Nintendo games are better the cross platform ones are better on PC)

Don't even get why people like this controller layout either. (360 controller is much more comfortable to use (with the exception of the dpad)).

If the dpad was used most of time it would be ok. (Perhaps I have weird shaped hands - Nintendo 64 controller was the most comfortable I have used.)

I hope Sony gets forced out of the console market they are not innovators at all just clone other peoples ideas (and do this less well than Microsoft).

Then maybe there could be another SEGA console. (And with it better first party SEGA games again instead of the safe bets they seem to make these days).

I hate DRM on PC stuff so I don't use steam (Use Good old Games / humble bundle / desoria) but I might use a valve / steam console. (The games are designed so they become worthless (When you cannot run a server yourself for multi-player then you are stuck with what the developer decides to do - it is basically a license for a short time).
boggydweller

might be the best but as i said still expensive.paying for a name.

It is not really paying for a name it is paying for somewhat decent quality but still hugely overpriced and the fact that Sony deliberately stops 3rd party controllers whenever it can. (Like the Apple / WebOS itunes syncing thing).

(They even break officially licensed stuff).

Say what you want about Microsoft / Nintendo nothing they do security wise negatively affects legitimate use. (And if it does they bend over backwards to sort it out).

Sony and Apple are the same in allot of respects. (Other than Apple has somehow convinced people that stopping things working is in their best interests. Don't think Sony managed that hence they lose money).

A black controller will cost you no less then one of these coloured ones.
Even if they were cheaper, have you ever taken apart a DS3? I have, and never again will I do so.
