sorry out of stock my bad
still a very good deal. thanks for the heads up.
No problem if the price is correct we will see more stock very soon and amazon will price match it too... Was waiting for a 2 controller bundle for under £200 but this is pretty much close enough even without the code for another £10 off.

Just ordered, will update later if quidco tracks.
One of these with a 1TB internal hard drive might be the perfect purchase.
Silly good value, big thanks to the original poster, purchased.
OK quido tracked but receiving £4.43 cashback... not massive but still great price overall
Hot from me, just ordered

I was going to get it without the code....thanks OP

Depends if you have the right screwdriver for the job. There is one blue screw which is easy enough to get out, but the 4 grey ones on the hard drive caddy can be a nightmare.

Swapping drives on a new machine is a 5 minute job.

How much for a compatible 500gb HDD?

How much for a compatible 500gb HDD?

I picked up a fewhotukdeals.com/dea…902 a few weeks back(portable hard drives, and stripped out the HDD) for £30, but I think that you'll usually pay closer to £40.

I had a 640GB in mine, I got it as a bare drive for about £42 about 6 months ago, they're probably about the same price now.

No, Sony even give you instructions on how to do it in the manual.
If you return it, they ask you to put the original HDD in.

Hmmm....tempting

What you reckon....hold out for a better deal or get this?

Do you have to change HDD first or can I change at a later date? Bearing in mind I have a 120gb as well so can swap data across

I'd swap it straight away if that's what you intend to do, saves having to do the data transfer.
Just make sure you have the latest firmware on a USB stick.
I've done it 3 times on a fat and slim. easy peasy.
EDIT. changed the HDD that is..

There's always a better deal, but it depends when it is, and if you're around to take advantage of it.

You can change it later, but it's time intensive copying the data.
If you have 60GB of data or less it's not too bad, but I had a 320GB almost full when I put in a 640GB, and it was an overnight job.
BUY BUY BUY!!!!!!

If you think you're going to get a better deal than this then you need help.
Does anyone know what firmware these usually come with? Or does it all depend on how long the stock has been held for? Would purchase if it came with an older firmware as a spare console

Well when I got my Sony PS3 slim replaced by Sony a week ago they gave me a 3.55 firmware. Anyway you can downgrade now from 3.70 to 3.55!! Buts it very sketchy for the faint hearted lol

Downgrade 3.70. This is for anyone with a old existing already opened PS3. Wouldn't advise it on a new PS3 though

Youre talking about the firmware update which closed the jailbreaking? I very much doubt it
Just ordered one, Pick up from store tomorrow. been on the look out for the last week for best deal and this is by far the best out there, even second hand on ebay, they are going way above this price.

Grab it while you can, even at christmas, i doubt they will be much cheaper than this, and im sure sony will sell through the 160 gig stock and concentrate on the 320 gig. So wont get cheaper.

I got a PS3 from Tesco Direct last week - 3.50 was installed.
Would imagine the majority are 3.55 or below seeing as they are old stock.
Oh for those of you with little kids who cant keep their hands to themselves, you can pick up a little adaptor on ebay (search ps3 power switch) which puts a power on/off switch at the back of these. I got one for around £1.50 which is great as they can now no longer switch it on and eject disks!!! The old phat ps3's had them but this was lost in the new slims.
Wow ! What a good price. My mates going to shot me though, as told him to buy last when it was 182 quid with code :-)
Just got one. Thanks! (_;)
Will currys price match this? Would it be for £175 or £165 of they did?
Ordered Thanks.
is it not better to get JL to price match and having 5yr guarantee?
This is a good deal, out 320gb had a sudden hardware fail last week, got it refunded. so looking for a replacement guess to upgrade the drive to 500gb for £40 is a no brainer.

thanks
