best price around if you want one!

the white looks ALOT better than black (it shimmers & looks perrrtty!) only prob is you'll have to try washing the analogue nub!

but as much as i love the PSPgo i'd still reccomend a psp 3000 with a 16GB card which should come in cheaper than this, especially in the long run due to the pricing of PSN store games.

luckily enough i have both! so if the games to expensive on PSN i'll buy it on umd

I agree the normal UMD equiped PSPs are better and are cheaper so offer so much better value. Or even better use your £150 on a DSi or XL.

The price of the PSP Go can, of course, be offset slightly by the ]PSP Go Reward Scheme (three free game titles from a choice available) until the end of March if you wish to make use of this promotional offer.

[EDIT]: To clarify - You need to be an owner of a previous PSP model to take advantage of this scheme & have this model available to you concurrently; you cannot trade-in your existing console or sell it in advance of purchasing the PSP Go [/EDIT].

I personally wouldn't recommend this to anyone. The games on the PSN are priced far too high and you will not benefit from any discounts or 2nd hand prices for UMDs
Better off with a normal PSP really if you want to save money.

For some, though, it is not always convenient to carry a stack of Universal Media Discs around.

Please also see my comment #]41 in the deal listing I mentioned above to explain why the PSP titles available on the PlayStation Network are priced the way they are.

There are, of course, the new range of "minis" at lower prices originally developed for the PSP for a much reduced price (but now most of these also run on the PS3 console too).

As mentioned before, you can download games through the Playstation Network on the original PSP as well. This way, you can buy UMD's when you're only playing one game at a time (which you can leave inside the PSP without a problem), and if needed download an additional game through Playstation Network when you need it on a memory stick.

And you could also of course mod it so you can backup games -that you already own- on a stick, but that's not an official feature of the original psp.

I have a little UMD carrier that holds about 7/8 games, it's not that inconvenient to carry it around in my pocket/ruck sack. Most of the games cost me around a fiver.
PSPGo's are a lot more convenient than normal one's, of that I'll agree. But the difference in price and convenience between the 2 options isn't worth it IMO.
Of course you could always update a normal PSP and put games on a memory card if you're immoral. Also you can still download games anyway from PSN on a normal PSP.
I think Sony missed the chance to add in a 2nd thumbstick & motion/touch control on the PSPGo. I'm sure a PSP 2 will have these and be download only as well.
re the pricing - well UMD's don't seem to sell well in retail anyway and most shops seem to hide them away. I think Ps1 games and minis are well priced though.
as a side note, I have a few quid left over in my PSN wallets - any mini you would recommend?

Yes, you can install custom firmware on some of the earlier PSP models.

What do you use to (allegedly) "backup" your games? That isn't a Sony-provided utility either is it?

snap!
is it actually legal to mod the PSP in this way to play back up games you already own on UMD?

There any many rumours surfacing about the so-called "PSP 2" device. I expect we will hear some confirmed news on this device, or the plans for future handheld consoles, at the Tokyo Game Show this year (in September 2010).

It has been mentioned that the Universal Media Drive may make a return in the next revision of the hardware as the "market isn't ready for digital download only yet" although Sony have wanted to push this delivery mechanism as the only (or primary) retail channel for a number of years.

I still have plenty of UMD-based games still to open (from over the past few years). I received two as gifts last Christmas & haven't opened these either.

I was asked to review a few of the "minis" a month or so ago for a couple of game publishers but I could not find any time to devote to the task, unfortunately.

There is a dedicated site I am aware of with some reviews available if you feel like reading further, though:

[ pspminis.com ]

Other sites are available too, of course.

PS[P]. Have your entered the PSP minis competition on the European PlayStation site?

You're very welcome. I have the same trouble during office hours as well.

Even the Google Cache versions of the pages are blocked as well as any site with reference to "forum" or "chat"

Some people can be so picky when they are paying you to do other things. Tut!

Good job HotUKDeals.com hasn't been spotted & frowned upon yet!

Have a good day (as best you can).

Probably not, but for me it's more important that it is ethically sound than whether or not the law allows it. They -should- allow it, because the developers make just as much money regardless of whether or not you back up games.

BWWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....you dog you....

Anyhow, even at this price the psp go is a worthless piece of cowdung. I may get it when it is below #100, but thats only so I could put it in my collection. Still probably wouldn't play any games on it.

Good price for a flop. I like the idea of a disc in a protective bit of plastic but the quality of the plastic is dreadful. Long live the memory card and isos and csos

Stick it in the "For Sale" forum with photos to demonstrate the condition of the case (front & back) paying particular attention to the Universal Media Drive disc door 'ring', the screen (with the console is both powered on & off), and the main ports/buttons, and I may well make you an offer (if it still has the original Sony firmware installed).

anyone know how good the battery is on one of these??

i contemplating selling my walkman to fund one of these, they any good as a music player if youre sat on the train??

PSPgo is already a dying console. Its crashed in price since launch and Sony are bringing out a new touch screen hand held device (or so I've been very reliably informed).

The Next PSP will be a slightly larger than the GO, with UMD builtin....I will wait for that which wil be under 150 mark......This needs to be under 100 notes for me to consider...I will vote hot...because its cheaper...Its the Iphone problem....its too expensive for what it is, but its an excellent device ......

I like my 3000 but if I am going to work or out for the day the Go wins hands down!!!!

thats for the US.

the UK had 3 different offers!

within the first 10 days of launch you could get gran turismo free

another was put a game in an old psp, goto the psn store & download a rewards theme to the pspgo. you then got to choose 3 of 17 games for free of the PSN

last was same as above but a choice of 1 of assasins creed, motorstorm artic edge & little big planet. (maybe only this 1 still running?)

having being a loyal PSP owner i'd wanted it on launch day, but i was in florida getting married! :w00t::) so i bought it over there for about £150! being a US console ment i couldnt get any of these offers..... well supposedly!
missed the deadline for GT but did the 3 free promo. didnt get a code so contacted sony. they sent me a code but it was for GT! downloaded it then contacted them again saying they had given me the wrong code so they sent me the right one!
then tried the 3rd offer but thats when the cottoned on that i had a US console! HEHEHE atleast i got 4 free games! :whistling:

Yes, just one which still cripples it hugely as a serious gaming machine. Sony really dropped the ball by not adding dual analogue to machine that offers very little incentive to upgrade to anyway.

As others mentioned, in convenience sake and usability, a PSP with CFW walks all over the Go!

There is no need for a second analogue stick if the existing software titles do not support it.

Yes, you can put custom firmware on an earlier model & carry as many games as you wish on multiple memory sticks, but newer software titles will detect the fact that the official system software is not present on the unit & will render the illegal software useless.

The PSP-3000 series model was still available to buy at the (first) launch of the PSP Go, and it continues to be available today.

The PSP Go was not designed to be an upgrade to the existing console. It exists concurrently.

Those with an earlier PSP model &/or many Universal Media Disc-based titles will not choose to buy the PSP Go as their only handheld console.

BFN,

someone actually worked out an exploit for this told everyone there was one but he wouldn't release it... then reported it to sony. what an a** hole. If that was his intention why tell everyone?

yeah I am not into the piracy stuff but I am also not really into sony having a monopoly on games either TBH. The only reason I would purchase one of these is if it could be hacked so I could put my psp umd's and psone games on a stick that way sony gets their money and I get a bargain.

There just isnt enough competition for the prices to be fair to consumers on this console. The prices on the store specifically fail to take into account the lack of physical materials needed to create the umd, manual, case, import taxes, shipping and middle man (i.e. argos, play) profit.

however i do like its design though.

The 3 Free games is still on till the 31/03 if you are upgrading from a PSP:-

Thing is.......can anyone help? I recently purchased a PSP Go (just to try it out for myself) for £100 off a mate. He'd used it twice but had downloaded 4 games. These games are still on the PSP Go.

Question is............if I re-register the PSP Go and log in under my PS3 account, will these games disappear or can I save them somewhere first?

Are they linked to the user account only?

If so......how do the people get on buying these on eBay with games preloaded?
