For anyone who wants a basic DVD recorder , lots of people don't want / need a lot of features , then its a good deal .

" Dolby Digital brings the cinema experience to the home, delivering up to 5.1 discrete channels of surround sound. "

It has 5.1 out & coaxial out

Added "DVD recorder - £89.99 @ Comet" to title to let people know what, where and how much this is...

It's also this price instore in Currys

Yes but as PJR points out, it's £10 cheaper at Laskys, £79.99 delivered:

laskys.com/tv_…CEK

Laskys IS Comet lol

Managed to pick one of these up instore from Sainsburys in their sale section (wasn't where all the other TV's and DVD players were) for £79.99, it's a good player and the picture quality on dvd playback on an HD tv is impressive. Also managed to make it region free

I just bought one of these from Argos argos.co.uk/sta…htm then followed the intructions from this site dvd.reviewer.co.uk/inf…asp to change the command mode of the offical sony remote that came with the dvd player just check in the manual, it worked and I took the OneForAll remote back to Argos for a refund the day after.

Nice one What type of packaging do these remotes come in? And can it be packaged back up without showing evidence that it's been opened? (I will be going to town to search for one ).

They come boxed in a brown cardboard box with 2 AA batteries, easy to open and repackage when you're finished. If in doubt just ask to see the item before buying to check on the packaging. :whistling:

Can't thank you enough for this... I thought I'd searched every corner of the inter-wobble for this answer and here it is... Kindly shared... Have some rep and a big hearty hand shake

What's more is that I already have one of those remotes from a few years back, so hopefully the batteries haven't spewed out 5 pints of acid into the innards while it's been at the bottom of my sock drawer!?!:whistling:
