This is a great deal, full retail version blu-ray drive with cyberlink bd software, also sony blu-ray drives are known to have fewer issues playing some blu-rays.
Plus amazon customer service is always great and hassle free should the worst happen in future. Just ordered mine, here I come love film !!

I personally went for the Pioneer as it's only a couple of quid more but has the benfit of burning DVD's and CD's too.....

This is a reader only...

I've not had any issues with not being able to read any discs

I bought mine from ebuyer but they are out of stock now, so try Aria or Novatech (novatech have free delivery)

Thanks:thumbsup:

From an amazon review:

"The included PowerDVD software is version 7, which is not the latest version, but works just fine."

- just to let you know

Am always tempted by something like this, but I have to remind myself that I actually want a Blu-Ray writer - which are far too pricey at the mo for me.

If iwas going to indulge myself, I'd spend a little more and get this LG drive:

amazon.co.uk/LG-…1-1

which seems to also play HD-DVDs - so if you find some good titles on HD-DVD on the cheap - wahey!

Well if you want a drive purely for blu-ray like me, this is great. BTW I did read somewhere that someone got the newest cyberlink software rather than 7, maybe some are old stock, some are new. Anyway mine is shipping soon, well happy for a sony at 50 quid

Yeah, I have the LG GGW H20L. Its basically the one you linked to (with HD DVD playback) but rewrites Blu Ray aswell. Very impressed with it so far.

With LG it seems to catch a bug off me because none of their products seem to last longer than 6 months with me. Is this just me or does this happen to anybody else?

I have that problem with Samsung products. They usually last 53 weeks and then die just out of warrantee.

Does anyone know if I use this with my radeon hd4670 gfx card and a sony true hd / dts master audio receiver would I get true hd and dts master audio, I know that my radeon gives 7.1 but ijm unsure if it will support the true hd and dts master audio formats.Im assuming that the radeon audio is pass through but im not 100%.Any advice would be appreciated.

Nope - they all work fine here.

I didn't realise how many LG products I've bought until I thought about it. Before "fanboy" accusations start flying, it's really just been price/performance that drives my purchases and LG seem to have maxed out with stuff I've wanted.

Okay, forgive me for being Johnny Thickskull but...if I got a Blu ray player for my laptop, and plug my laptop into my Telly via the pc in port (so it would be vga to vga)... would this then give me a high def picture?

NO, VGA is similar to scart in signal quality which is poor. Also your laptop graphics card would need to be able to output to 1920x1080 for true HD which it won't be able to do....your laptop would also need to be HDCP compliant
