I know its 299 at Currys but you need to add £34.99 for cradle and only get 1 year warranty - and need to go and collect it!

Hope it gives people a little help.

BTW many users on youtube are rating the ony BETTER than the ASUS and the rest of the Android tablets.

I believe getting 2 years warranty with Currys is an extra £115.

Just watched the comparison and am very tempted by the Sony - can you tell me what sort of charger/adaptor plug it uses? I was going to get an ipad because I assume it can charge like the ipod from a USB lead.

Unfortunately the Sony uses a proprietary connector that will only charge from the supplied AC adaptor, or dock when that has said ac adaptor plugged into it already

Are you seriously choosing a £350 gadget based on the type of charging port it has? There are a lot of other reasons to go for the Sony over the iPad, especially if you have other Sony or DLNA enabled AV gear.

The point of the Sony charging adapter is that it is magnetic, so if you move the tablet with the lead connected, it will break away without damaging the port.

Great deal by the way, voted hot; wish I'd held off for a few weeks!

actually it is a consideration - I love the magnetic connection on my macbook and I also appreciate being able to use a 3 pin USB adaptor plug to charge my phone and ipod without having to carry round transformers etc for each gadget. I recently got an Android tab which had a very narrow little jack plug and none of the tips from my various other laptop chargers, solor charger, car charger etc fitted it so I would have had to purchase several special adaptors to leave in the office and at my Mums etc or else always have to remember to pack the one that came with it.
I did not know that the Sony was magnetic - that is certainly another point in its favour and I can also see that with the profile of it visability when it is lying flat will be far better than a slap shape.
Now just need to get a good deal on one - or be patient until after Xmas. Living where I do I do not have the option of going to PC World nor a Sony Centre easily.

Sorry, how do you get the Sony Table S for 299 at Currys?

Yeah, just noticed that offer too - very good....certainly gives the Sony yet another plus point into reasons to buy. Link: hotukdeals.com/fre…978
