very tempted, but have been looking at the 35mm 1.8 FE. I know that is twice the price, but i'd be interested in other people's opinions... looking for a street lens that i can also use for occasional astro...

The 35 f/1.8 is a much better lens. The 28 is soft wide open, has terrible C.A, distortion and heavy vignetting. But it is light weight and cheap.

What have you been using that on? What's the focusing/sharpness like? I'm looking for a 30-35mm to use on my a6500 at the moment. I'll definitely be getting a full frame camera in the next year or so and don't really want to buy more APS-C glass.

I have an A9, 4 x A7III’s, an A7RIV with an A9II on its way to me.

That's a lot of cameras, hope you're making good money out of them. How do you rate the 35mm 1.8 AF/sharpness?

it’s pretty good for a budget lens
Is this better than the SEL50F18FE Full Frame version? I picked that up for £129 but wondering if this might be worth it instead?

The 28mm f2 is far better on the A5100, A6000, A6300 and so on as it only uses the centre part of the lens so misses most of the small problems on the out sides, its about as sharp as the 50mm F1.8 on ASPC cameras

The 'terrible C.A, distortion and heavy vignetting' is automatically corrected in camera or lightroom profile if using raw. It's an excellent lens for it's price performance, the compromises in its performance are far outweighed by its many strengths, price, sharpness, compactness and decent build.

Thanks but I've already got the 24mm 1.8 for my a6500. I want something closer to 50mm on full frame. I've got the old Sigma 30mm 2.8 which is nice but the AF isn't great.

Corrections don’t fix this lens that is just complete nonsense. Its also far from decent build. It is cheap you at least got that right.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the aberrations are fixed automatically in camera and the build quality is excellent + it's dust and moisture resistant.

This is a good lens, I don't agree with the major criticism of it.

It's very cheap as well for an F2 prime, yes don't expect £1000 + performance out of it but for the money, it's excellent.

The FE 50mm F1.8 is a good lens and around 179.

Sorry, I meant 50mm equivalent FOV on full frame. So about 30/35 on my a6500. Trying to decide whether to get the Sigma 30mm 1.4 e or Sony 35mm 1.8 fe. Probably doesn't matter, I don't think I want to buy another APS-C lens and the 35mm is a bit too expensive for what it is. I'll probably hold off for a while.
