  • Bright F1.8 high quality 50mm lens ideal for portraits and general photography
  • Optical SteadyShot built in for crisper handheld images. Dimensions (Diameter x Length)-62 x 62mm
  • Smooth, quiet, high speed autofocus, ideal for HD movie shooting
  • E Mount Fitting

Enjoy a near perfect portrait-length perspective on your APS-C E-mount camera with this black E 50mm f/1.8 OSS Lens from Sony, which provides a 75mm equivalent focal length. It's fast f/1.8 maximum aperture and seven-blade circular diaphragm help create beautiful images by allowing users to use selective focus techniques with the shallow depth of field. On top of this, the lens is equipped with Optical SteadyShot image stabilization for reducing the impact of camera shake. Also, it has an internal focus mechanism for fast, responsive AF and reaching a minimum focus distance of 1.3'.

  • Designed for APS-C format cameras, this 50mm lens will offer users a 75mm equivalent focal length, making it ideal for portraiture and other short telephoto applications.
  • The fast f/1.8 maximum aperture facilitates working in low light conditions and allows shooters to create images with an extremely shallow depth of field.
  • Optical SteadyShot image stabilization helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake for sharper imagery when shooting handheld with slower shutter speeds. This stabilization system can be combined with select camera's sensor-shift type image stabilization for more effective control of camera blur.
  • An internal focus mechanism contributes to faster, more responsive autofocus, the minimum focus distance of 1.3', and easier handling as the lens does not change in length during use.
  • Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality when employing selective focus techniques.

Superb value this lens
Good deal, good lens, voted HOT but please mind there are some bad points...
I will use the simplest words to explain my experience:

-This is 50mm for non full frame APS-C cameras (like Sony A6000, A63000, NEX etc.) This means, lens really is 75mm in practice.
-Field of view is very narrow. this means you have to be 1.5 -3 meters away to make portrait with some decent background. Can you manage to make portrait in your bedroom 3meters away of the object? therefore not very handy for indoor shooting.
-No zoom at all as this is prime lens.

+Extremely sharp
+Extremely fast auto-focus
+Perfect for OUTDOOR photography
+Perfect bokeh effect with 1.8 Aperture.
+Very easy installation. Just Plug and play.
+This lens is very easy to sell to go for example 35mm in future

I have eventually gone foe SEL35F18 (35mm is equivalent of 52mm in full frame cameras)
Bought mine £210 used on ebay.
35mm gives you the ability to shoot indoor (don't have to stand that much away from the object).

sorry those are not 'bad points' of the lens - those are the exact same as every 50mm prime lens (eg canon 50/1.8)
if you dont expect them its bad understanding not a bad lens, if they are upgrading from a kitlens then it has 50mm so theyd know that
(if they dont have any lenses then... *shrug*)

i sort of agree with the points but it should be obvious to anyone that considers it
not the the lens IS 75mm - just it 'acts' like a 75mm on full frame would - its still 50mm
to anyone that doesn't know about the crop factor then they very likely dont know why 75mm is any worse anyway so i bet you just confused 10 more than you helped

"+Very easy installation. Just Plug and play." er right....

mainly though - you liked your own post - sheesh

Read my post again. Didn't I write: "good deal, Good lens"?
Its better to be aware of limits and maybe your realize you want something like this but pay a bit extra and be able to shoot indoor. Not all Camera users are aware of the hardware they have. 30% still use AUTO mode all time. so hope my comment will help someone.

Yes I do like my comment

I still consider your deal as hot.

You can still take indoor photos.

Here's one I took on this lens (less than 1m away from the subject) flickr.com/pho…ic/
Dammit, I was hoping to sell mine and this price is too good lol. I'm not a huge fan of this lens tbh

Considering the best focal length for portrait is 80-135mm (IMO) I'm not sure how being 75-80mm on APSC is a downside.

and if anyone has a different e-mount lens they'd like to trade for a black version of this hit me up haha
I got 16mm 1.4 sigma.. brilliant for indoor and outdoor.. also got sony 35mm 1.7. Is it better to sell sony 35mm and get this? So I can use for portrait only outdoor?
Edited by: "Karan4u" 29th Jul
I use mainly vintage manual focus lenses on my Sony, but if anyone's looking for E Mount lenses I would highly recommend the Sigma 30mm F/1.4 and the Sigma 60mm f/2.8 both are worth every penny and I would choose these over the Sony branded lenses every time.

(the 60mm f/2.8 is insanely sharp if you can live with the slower aperture)

Anyone got any tips on where to get a used long zoom lense for landscapes and wildlife on an a6000?

another one...
As I have stated earlier not all buyers have even basic knowledge of the product... So its better to state what might be disappointing for them after buying this as 30% users is on AUTO all time. People with knowledge won't even bother reading your or mine comments as this good lens is well known by them they will go straight to shop. Those who are in doubt want to know what they will get.

Don't worry... Good news for you is, following you suggestion, If I will ever set up my Youtube channel I will hire you to write comments like yours on all my competitors channels.

I wish you to have a lovely evening.

If you are adept at manual focussing you can get something like my Sigma 400mm prime which I use for wildlife with a cheap Minolta > NEX adapter on my A6000. 34532645-YNfJC.jpg
I also have another manual 400mm prime for my A6000 but it doesn't look as cool as the khaki green sigma haha (Prakticar 400mm f5.6) M42 > NEX adapter.34532797-zHzCy.jpg

Price very much dependant on condition. 90% of old lenses have some internal dust but this doesn't make it's way onto photo's in general. Fungus and lens separation do however impact image quality. Mine has some fungus but I bought it for some fun and was only around £50 if I remember correctly (plus a tenner for the relevant adapter to fit it onto the Sony). Manual focus is now my much preferred method of photography and with a little practice it's really no problem and makes selective focusing on busy scenes much more reliable than auto focus. The Practikar was a bargain at around £35 on ebay with a last minute bid and is free from all fungus etc.

Just an example of the kind of photos I get with the above 400mm lenses on my A6000 from 50-75m away. So we're not talking professional quality, but perfectly good enough to share on social media etc and I really enjoy the challenge of shooting moving animals at distance. 34532965-ZOIB5.jpg

good stuff, can you get these sort of shots without a tripod? I'll have a read up on how to check for fungus and separation, I assume people wouldn't try to sell a lense with these problems?

Should be advertised as having fungus if so, but as always use caution. All mine above were handheld, although large they're not heavy lenses really. Obviously a steady hand or leaning on the ground/fencepost etc helps, along with a fast shutter speed.

The fact it’s a prime and 75mm equivalent are not Bad points!

Primes are inherently sharper therefore you get a much better shot

Zoom with your feet

75mm equivalent takes a better portrait than a 52mm equivalent.

Depends on the bedroom size as to whether you can take a 1.5-3m walk and why no mention of other larger rooms?

You’ve focussed (pardon the pun) on some very narrow minded points here which certainly aren’t relevant to everybody

With that aperture it’s perfect for indoor photography too, especially head and shoulder shots

Installation? Come on...

Anybody that has an e mount camera, this will be the best pound for pound performance brand new you will ever find end of.

Outstanding lens.

When I had nex cameras (had every model since day one) I had the 30mm sigma and loved how sharp it was, also had this too.

On a7ii now and have the 55mm zeiss and that is a mind blowing lens. Total perfection
