Product details
The Sony SWR10 SmartBand is a 24/7 wearable device. It's waterproof and you can keep it on you whatever you do. It's discreet and designed to look great with any clothing style. An iconic metal Sony fastening button and LEDs give it a premium look and feel. The SmartBand also incorporates a removable core unit and a stylish and comfortable wrist band.

What makes the SmartBand smart is an innovative Android smartphone app that automatically records your physical, social and entertainment activities. For any given day, you can see how active you were and how you have been communicating with your world. The wearable technology and innovative life logging app will also help you set activity goals and monitor your progress. Lifelog even lets you know what the weather is going to be like tomorrow.

By tracking body movements, the SmartBand will wake you up at the best time based on your sleep cycle. It calculates and measures the best time to wake you up and gently vibrates to bring you out of sleep.

SmartBand is in constant contact with your smartphone via Bluetooth. A vibrating alert lets you know if a call, message or other notification comes in. When you're enjoying your music on the move you can play, pause and skip tracks using the SmartBand. Connecting is easy using NFC or a standard Bluetooth connecting procedure. Even when you're out of range of your smartphone, this wearable technology saves information about what you do and automatically passes it on when you re-connect. Keep track of your lifestyle and see how you live with Lifelog.

Compatible with Sony Xperia Z Series Phones and Tablets plus LG Nexus 4 & 5, Samsung Note 3, Galaxy S4 & S5 and the HTC One & One M8.

Why not just have the chip implanted and have done with it

Heat just for the fact it isn't compatible for iPhones.
Cold, 35 quid of the bay
So what's so good about this, an alarm that wakes you up when it thinks you should get up???
Heat from me, just a shame I have a stupid iPhone! Grr!!!

that is probably not too far away from happening... they already chip pets & livestock so why not us humans?
How do you know you haven't been 'chipped' already ?
Looks interesting - i have a windows phone so no use to me.

There is a Microsoft Band coming to the UK soon which looks very similar but a lot more expensive - £40 seems reasonable for this tech, if i had a compatible phone i'd have ordered one!

For now i will continue with Endomondo on my phone for when i'm cycling, and my Nike+ watch/band for when i'm running.

That's a shame. Would've been a nice stocking filler for the Wife's Moto G.

No heart rate monitor, I'll wait for something else.
adhart, that's just for the rubber bands, you can buy different colours and swap. No smart device included.

Very tempted by this as I've been wanting one and my phone is compatible, just not sure if I'd get the use with a desk job and swimming being my main exercise. Hmmm.

I'm afraid that this is where is will lead us eventually (or in a few years)
must say that I'm tempted.

2 issues: 1) I can't tell whether it'll work with my note II ( I know it's not on the approved list, but it runs android 4.4.2 [4.4 required] and has bluetooth 4. 2) Will this just sit in a drawer and not be used?!
can't see the point of this at all, I "get" smart watches
moto g 4g compatible ?
Be careful because CNET or someone did a study and found that it was quite inaccurate. They haven't spent the same amount of time as someone like fitbit on the algorithems and stuff that interperate the sensors data.

Of course it will. It's traditional for all fitness kit to be discarded within 6 weeks of purchase. At least this is small enough to sit in a drawer rather than taking up garage space!
I have one of these and it has been generally very good. Primarily used for alerts of calls and messages, and I leave my phone permanently on silent with no vibrate. I also wouldn't want to go back to using an alarm clock now, as the vibrate is much a much gentler way of waking up. Especially good for partners sharing a bed who wake up at different times. I've now replaced mine with the new SWR30 Smartband Talk (which is why this model is being discounted).

It is very inaccurate.
I've had one since may, and without posting my experience again, it doesn't really do anything. The software in the phone is the real tracker, this is not much more than a glorified vibrating alerting device. Except it won't work if too far from the phone, so thats a waste of time too. Alarm is hit and miss, and it fails to change song tracks on the run, even using the walkman app on a sony Z2.
Even as an alarm it has failed to wake me on several occasions.

It should be compatible with all devices that run 4.4, or any later sony device. I have however heard of people having issues on non Sony devices, and often disconnects on Sony ones.

Half the original price now, and probably getting close to it's real value.

Is it going to change my life , nah . I'll give it a miss thanks . No doubt its a bargain though

The Sony band doesn't do anything the Jawbone or Fitbit have been doing for years?

Whereas the Microsoft band is innovating. It's pretty much a smartwatch and works on all platforms, Android, Windows & IPhone. The Microsoft band will alert you on emails, calendar appointments, txt's, calls... and even use it to pay for stuff!
Can anyone recommend any alternatives to this? roughly the same price range.
Voted cold as they wanted £35 for delivery, apparently my postcode (10mins from Glasgow) needs a higher charge.
