why picture of Sony SmartWatch 3 Stainless Steel version?
idealo.co.uk/com…tml

Its very misleading, i have the black and would of bought the metal version at that price.

Who cares whether it shows the metal version? It's a brilliant price with a spare £30 strap.
Was going to get the Gear S2 but I think I'll stick with this instead at the price.

Anyone who owns one, is the inbuilt GPS any good?

Very good device, I have one. I don't use it every day, mainly as a silent Alarm when I need to be up early (alongside other Alarms), but it has many options of use with GPS and memory on board, etc.

A very good introduction to smartwatches, battery life is pretty good too.

Support depends on the app - I was using Endomondo - and it was a dud, but I think Runkeeper and Strava work with it - but that may have changed since I last used it.
I had intended using it for runs, but that is only going to be for timed runs now - and I have none planned for a while. When I run recreationally, I usually take my phone anyway in case of emergencies.
As a watch though, it just gets better and better every update (battery life and features).

Anyone looking to get this for fitness I have done a fair amount of research. Looks like it is possible to have GPS, music through Bluetooth headphones and Bluetooth heart rate monitor all working at once. Need to use certain apps (ghostracer?) Spotted it on XDA forums.

Massive thank you op. Saved my bacon with a fussy teenage daughters Christmas present. Bargain price

This is a brilliant watch and the screen is fantastic! Heat added

Great price heat

May be a silly question but do you need a computer to update this or to get apps? We don't own a computer

What's I think 4.2?

Sorry couldn't resist

good find op, heat added

I'd highly recommend

I can't see how this is a deal when it is £100 normally?

iThink 4.2

Doesn't seem as though Currys have much stock of any smart watches recently. The Moto 360 deal I posted yesterday went out of stock within a few hours.

I'm telling you it'll just end up with all your other gadgets in a few weeks time!!

4 months on my isn't. Not worn a watch for 10 = years but wear this all the time. A great buy for me.

You need Android 4.3

Should also work with an iPhone (albeit not as integrated as with Android) but no idea how current iOS needs to be.

You might want to re-read the description and you'll realise why

GPS is not too bad. Does take some messing with initially to get it to use its own as opposed to trying to use your phone's GPS but generally fine afterwards. I leave my phone at home and go for a run / walk with the Sony Bluetooth headphones and listen to music via Google play cached music on the watch while tracking using either endomondo or strava (and sometimes both). Endomondo seems the most reliable but even it can take a few minutes to find a satellite at times.

I purchased the white strap separately but must admit I've gone back to the black for a bit. The black does seem to be a dust magnet though so I may switch back to white!.

If you use another Bluetooth device such as a Fitbit be warned you might struggle syncing updates with your phone. I use a charge HR in addition to this and ever since the last Fitbit update it seems to hog Bluetooth to the detriment of the SW3 - easy fix....don't wear the Fitbit at the same time of course

Thanks for that mate, ordered one to give it a go... seems rude not to at that price tbh.

Seems to be out of stock ATM but it keeps coming back so keep checking...

No worries!. Hope it helped. Definitely you'll lose nothing by trying it out for this money. If for whatever reason you can't get on with it (which I doubt) you'll get your money back no problem flogging the watch and strap on eBay separately

Well it's arriving tomorrow so I'm looking forward to trying it out... Was going to go for the Gear S2 but this is £150 less and has the inbuilt GPS function which I really wanted, and better waterproofing for swimming
I hope I can pick up a metal bracelet for it at some point too as that looks pretty cool... Can't seem to find it available on line though.

OOS

received mine today and its better then i expected a bit of a fiddle setting it up but i think i made the right choice as i was going to buy the pricer Gear S2

Finally decided to bite the bullet and get one. Best decision. Works perfectly. Screen far sharper than I expected. And tracked my last jog perfectly. Only wish I'd made the decision earlier!

Back in stock and just ordered one. Get them while you can. Then buy a holder that has been 3D printed and will fit any strap if you so wish.

Have you seen any smooth 3D printed holders? The one I've seen on Xda is textured and doesn't look that good I don't think

does anyone know (especially those who actually already own this device can you pls let me know the followin) before i buy this smartwatch:

- does the android wear app needed to connect to and configure this smartwatch needs to have permanent access to the internet on the android phone for one to be able to configure the smartwatch or send files etc to it (ie can it be used offline)?

- is the bluetooth connection flaky between the smartwatch and an android phone?

- is this smartwatch really comfortable to wear all the time ie does the metal on the strap 'bite' into ones wrist?

Thanks for your time

Don't think I fully get your first point.
However it has absolutely no way method of connection if your not connected to Wifi or your mobile to use its connection... You can still change settings and such when it's offline.

Bluetooth has been perfect

Haven't worn a watch in maybe a decade. And haven't taken this off since getting it. So yes very comfortable.

Any of u guys know of any good videos or forums on the Sony S3. Not using it for much as I'm not sure of all it's potential. There is a cracking vid on the (ughh!) apple watch someone made but havent found one for S3. Cheers

Back in stock now, just ordered mine

Does it still count your steps without a connection to WiFi or your phone?

Would definitely say it does yes, also saves gps routes and such you've recorded until you get into wifi/bluetooth range and it can transfer it over.
