Brilliant price for a fantastic speaker. Good spot OP.
I bought this a month ago for £109 and it's worth every penny at that price. For £79.99 it's an absolute steal. If you like a bit of bass then you can't beat this speaker for it's size to bass response ratio. Nothing comes close. I find I have to use my equalizer app to reduce the bass at times. It's got a lot of ooomph for it's size and the fact that it's portable too. I love mine.
Nice, cheaper than most places (but could have bought from Sony outlet for less than £50 before the place closed but didn't) and thats the problem. Still expensive for what it is
I got mine as a refurb from the Sony outlet centresdirect.co.uk/p-1…spx for £69 (OOS at present) and it's absolutely brilliant. I already had a Bose Soundlink II and it sounds much better IMHO. The bass is amazing. At this price for a new one it's a steal.
Great little speaker, I find it a bit bass heavy but that could just be me. Easily loud enough to fill quite a large room.

I think it's bass heavy too. I use Equaliser app on android to fix that when necessary.
I have the predecessor of this speaker (the SRS-X5) and find it absolutely outstanding, better than any sub-£400 I've heard personally.
is this a proprietary charger? I have / had a btx300 Sony that has just died. I think it's the charger but a replacement would cost £10, not the end of the world but it's put me off non micro USB chargers!
I have one connected by the headphone jack to my kitchen TV. The kitchen can be noisy when cooking and the small tv had a tinny sound that didn't carry well. I purchased this small speaker, speculatively, hoping it would resolve the issue - In fact, the sound is now better than the main TV in the lounge; good bass and crystal clear - I can't recommend it enough...

Yes it's proprietary again I'm afraid.
How is it compared to JBL Flip 3? I have a flip 2 and I am not sure if I should go for Flip 3 or this one? Any suggestions?
I think that companies make them bass heavy as Joe public equates deep and powerful bass with quality.
How does this compare to the Beats Pill 2.0?
for £20 more then buy the Denon...i have 2, they sound fantastic at full volume

Got this for around the same price in duty free. Worth every penny, i'm kind of a snob when it comes to audio and thought I wouldn't get much out of a portable speaker, but honestly sounds great
Everyone forgetting about stereo nowadays? :-(

These are "stereo" speakers with the bonus of Bluetooth
Great speakers. They fill a room quite nicely! Hot!
I have previous gen and slightly larger x7. Great speaker. Imagine this will be much of the same albeit a bit less powerful.
Bought one last year - a great decision! These things can fill a room with sound (and this is the small version!!) Note that the volume capacity is about 70% when running off its (built-in, rechargeable) battery.

Another bonus is that, when plugged in, you can connect a USB cable to it and charge your smart-phone / tablet while enjoying those tunes. It is both Bluetooth and NFC compatible and it has a 3.5mm input jack. Brill
bought one of these at this same price at currys last July thanks to HotUKDeals.
Great bit of kit, and definitely worth the money.
Can be a little bit heavy on the bass, but i am very impressed on how well it can fill a big room if needed! would reccommend.
I voted the exact same deal Hot last july, and voting hot again now!

I have the Bose soundlink mini - it's seems to be losing something, not willing to go as loud as it used to and battery dying out after 3/4 hours, so with that in mind thinking of something new, also - whilst I do love the clarity of the Bose, I miss that extra bit of bass. I only really use the Bose when getting ready in the morning.

Is this worth buying then?

I think that happened to my original SRS-X5. It stopped charging after a while. Voting HOT for price!

Have you listened to this? I was wondering if you've done a comparison as you were suggesting spending 20 quid more.
Wonderful piece of kit.
Great price

How does this compare to the Beats Pill 2.0?

The Beats Pill is literally horrendous for the price.

This is way more than double the volume, double the sound quality, and double the bass.

For allot less a kitsound boombar 2 is pretty good and comes with a carry case.

how's this compare to the creative sound blaster roar....I have the 1st gan one and love it!!!! got via amazon lighting deals for 89 quid. ......this Sony look good too....heated up and thanks ks for posting
the Flip and boom bar are way underpowered when compared to some me thing like this.....no comparison....I had the Flip 2 and boom bar. ....the Flip is certainly better......I have a Philips BR1X too and it really is great for a smaller speaker.....hope this helps...

Yes it's proprietary again I'm afraid.

There are some technical reasons the X-55 isn't using micro usb. The power consumption of this unit is 30W. See here. USB runs on 5V so it would need 6A (5V x 6A = 30W) of current from the USB to run these speakers. USB 2.0 and micro usb aren't really made for that much current. It could have gone with USB 3.1 and the new Type C port and future proofed itself. Lots of devices are beginning to use that. Maybe they had other reasons.

The Boombar 2 goes quite loud but it does depend on the space you want to fill.
How does this speaker sound compared to the Sonos Play 1?

How does this speaker sound compared to the Sonos Play 1?

I have both. The Sonos sounds way better but then it is a quality mains powered speaker that costs more. You can't really compare the two especially as the Sony is portable and rechargeable. The Sony is the best sounding portable speaker for its price IMO.

I inferred that they were talking about the Sony. Especially as the bass is way better on the Sony than the Bose.

The Sony is better IMHO
Price is even now lower at £76.97. Great deal gone even better.
