Sony SRS-X7 Bluetooth NFC Portable Speaker with Apple AirPlay & DLNA, Black £159.95 John Lewis

I have one of these (albeit in grey). Sturdy unit, but the speakers are awful and the network connectivity rarely works properly. It connects to the network with no problem at all, but it's terrible at actually interfacing with any software. Wouldn't recommend it.

What is airplay like
Is it just the dlna the issue

I listened to one of these in a shop, and I was surprised at how poor the sound was for the price. Too much bass and lacked top end.

Sony Centre in Brighton have these for £139 in black and white, that's the cheapest I've found

I imagine the software compatibility issues will vary from person to person. No escaping the appalling sound quality though. The speakers are awful. That said, all units of this kind sound cr*p. I also have similar Panasonic unit without the network capability in another room, and that sounds rubbish as well. If you just want it on quietly in the kitchen or something, fine. If you want any volume out of it at all, it's useless.
