Would 4.0 work with this. I have my Sony STRDH190. 2 channel amp with Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 speakers hooked up to my pc I have option to use A and B but I think the speakers would overload it if I used 2 lots of diamonds?

I dint want a sub plus I sit center of TV so I don't need center speaker.

Any suggestions to get 4.0 working (edited)

I don’t have this model, but on my old 640 it was just a case of setting the size for any absent speakers to ‘none’. I run 5.0 at home, because with floorstanders in all four corners and an inclination to avoid neighbour-worrying levels of bass running the mains “large” is enough.

I’m using this for last 5 years and works like charm. Software could have Benn better. It doesn’t register Bluetooth devices so you will need to pair it every time which is bit pain

I agree. I've got this avr and it's absolutely rubbish and unreliable (sound cuts out) . My 20yr old Sony amp is 10 times more reliable and better than this.

Can't beat the old build quality of these things. My Yamaha A1 was like a tank and faultless, but then again I've never had AV or Hifi separates fail. Might've been lucky (edited)

This was as low as £279 two years ago. Yes av receivers have increased in price.

I cant find anything comparable so I have purchased.

However, reading the comments above, it is unreliable.

I think a lot of manufacturers are having quality issues. Probably due to shortcuts due to component shortage and high demand

I've just bought a 4K SONY TV and wanted to upgrade my existing SONY AMP as it doesn't have ATMOS and isn't 4K - up until now, with my 1080P TV, I plugged all my equipment into the HDMI ports on the AMP (SKY Q, XBOX, SONY 4K Disc player etc.) then had the one cable going from the AMP to the TV - the pass through was neat.

If I use this AMP (which I have ordered) with the new 4K TV, will the 4K UHD disc player, SKY Q 4K and XBox Series X which I intend to purchase, work correctly if plugged into this AMP with the one cable going to the TV again? I've just read on another comment that it doesn't have HDMI 2.1 which I hadn't realised and is a shame.

Yes it will work but as the amp doesn’t have hdmi 2.1 you won’t get the full features of the Xbox x. If the tv has hdmi 2.1 ports then plug the Xbox directly into that and send the sound from the tv to the amp when using the Xbox (uses eARC so still get atmos decoding).

The flagship DN1080 appears to have been discontinued or is certainly limited in stock now.

I do wonder if sony are intending on releasing a successor to that model

Currently I use the relatively budget DH190 as I have a turntable but I also use it for 2.1 with my TV.

Despite not having a sub out it can still power a subwoofer so that in conjunction with front left and right speaks is adequate for my small living room

not sure if this one will be the same but I am currently using the DN1080 and it really urks me that, when you switch it on, it will play about 1-2 mins of the the previous input, and then switch you to the "Home" menu - and from there you need to manually switch back again. Small issue but really gets to you when it happens every single time! (edited)

Bought one of these a few months ago to replace my old Song 5.1 amp. Once you work out the settings ( it’s not very intuitive) it’s a bargain at £309

I picked this up at the start of lockdown from Richer Sounds with their 6 year warranty. With that said it's been flawless so far and you'll struggle to find something with the set of features for the price.
