I'm sure this has been posted already

thanks

Good deal a cheap way into home cinema and 3d ready excellent find heat added.

Good spot but if you are after HD audio (DTS HD for Blu-Ray) I don't think this does it, as a starter though excellent.

Defo a good deal. Sony is much better then that unknown brand Onkyo everyone is hyping up.

I have this receiver and its great value for the price. I have them paired with onkyo speakers which are brilliant

Buyer beware-this is probably a Onkyo rebrand!

does it pass audio over the HDMI?

So you don't have to buy the overpriced speaker cable?

This Receiver does pass 3D (HDMI 1.4) but does not decode HD sound formats (Blu-Ray).

My advice would be to spend a few pounds more and cover all bases (eg Sony STR-DH810).

It says it does in the product description.

No, you get free cable with it.

I saw a video online once, saying that you could use coat hangers and alligator clips as speaker cable. Makes £1/m look very expensive

This is the updated version of the sony 500 model,

afaik the 500 didn't pass audio and wasnt '3D' ready - According to the box the 510 does and is.

No

Yes, but cheaper wire would suffice.

No, Yamaha make excellent Receivers etc but are not noted for their speakers. Perhaps at the price point they are OK.

is it important to have DTS HD?
is this still value for money and better than the onkyo 3D system which is around the 230 mark but out of stock?

Yamaha NS10's are in all the worlds best studios, more than any other manufacturer ever nice 1978 till now.

Oh the irony. They are in every studio because they sound crap. If your mix sounds good on NS10s, then you can be confident it'll sound good on your nan's hi-fi. Thats the only reason they have them.

Are NS10's included in this deal?

To be frank whatever cheap 5.1 speaker package is included at this price point its never going to be fantastic sounding but OK sounding.

In fact name me a good quality Yamaha 5.1 AV speaker system

Just bought the STR-HD510 for £119.99 from Richer Sounds. I printed off the offer page showing £129.99 plus I used the £10 off VIP voucher:)

Also connected to my Sony TV ,and was able to get the TV audio to go through the surround speakers using HDMI . So to confirm this unit support ARC (audio return channel) . sweet

A PDF on the NS10M, not the NS10. Different monitors.

Anybody got any ideas on a mix/match amp and speakers package for about 500 quid tops?

I've been looking at the Sony STRDH810 amp but any ideas on some decent 5.1 speakers to go with it?

Cheers peeps
