Best Home Cinema Amplifier Award 2011

Instore ONLY.

got one of these myself and there is only 1, yes ONLY 1 bug/downside of this amp. When amp is set to pass audio through to tv Iie amp is off and device is on) it reports to a PC that it is stereo only, so no surround sound . Other than that this is an amazing sounding amp.

I bought the 520 model for £149 and it's brilliant. Not too sure what the difference is between the two models other than 7.2 with this one and 7.1 in the 520.

Good but not for me as its only 1 HDMI out. Dammit!
Hot anyway

this has upscaling, I thought I wouldn't need it (as I got the TEAC at Christmas) as my blu ray and ps3 done that, but when I tried the dvdr player and the Wii it would only give sound, so now I know what upscaling means

Heat...

I have bought this receiver from RicherSounds for £219. A great piece of technology. Go for it...

wow wow wow, what's the difference between 7.1 and 7.2? I feel so stupid!

bought the Teac one at Christmas and haven't been hugely impressed so considering changing to something like this. The Teac one gives me an annoying "click" everytime I change the channel.

7.1 - One subwoofer channel
7.2 - Two subwoofer channels

Don't worry about it too much - If you have a 7.2 system then I doubt you'll be looking at an amp in this price range! X)

Aye, if you really need 7.2 i'd go for something else :).

I don't see why you wouldn't buy this even if you had a 7.2 system.....

Much difference between this and the Yamaha YHT296 AV receiver.. the RXV373

Haha alright thanks! just need to get some money first :P

I have this. I had to **** around for a while setting it up and had to disable the HDMI passthorugh to the TV as it would force the amp to only work in 2 channels which is a shame but I love the sound. I only bought mine a month or two ago and Chester and Stockport both had stock. Stockport were determined to cross sell me to something else - stating that I would not like the sound on this as it is too bright on small speakers but I dont find this at all and I love it. All the reviews are glowing too but it is a 2011 award winning amp.

The GUI is a bit teletext basic but you dont need to go into that too much.

I have one of these and its faaaaaaaaaaantastic along with my Boston Acoustics soundware XS SE's and Sony 55HX853 - My babies!

Tried thinking outside the box and think about getting a HDMI splitter for 15 notes on Ebay, simple solution to getting two display outputs from the device.

does the splitter make any noticeable difference to sound/picture though ?

I'm not taking the p here and it's a genuine question....what set up would require two hdmi outputs?

superb bit of kit, hot

Those that have a projector may need 2 HDMI outs.

That is a bonkers price for this amp - HOT

Got one and love it!

Tempted by this. Be sure to check the knobfeel review (SFW): youtube.com/wat…UJg

Would not think so, you get amplified ones, people use them all the time to feed two tvs with the likes of sky etc with 15m hdmi cables without any difference.

According to geeks over at AVForums, the short answer is no, but handshaking issues could be possible.

superb surround amp/rec at this price its a steal

When I re-did the house, I installed HDMI/power sockets in the centre of a wall where my tv is mounted so it looks completely wire free and also on the ceiling were the projector is. They run behind the walls and come out to where a corner unit is with all my devices. Everything terminated properly and looks professional. At the moment, I'm fed up of having to pull cables out of the wall port to plug it into the other an cant be doing the cables too much good. A twin output amp would save me the trouble. Also don't want to use the splitter as I'm running a 20m cable to the projector...

I have this and am very happy paid Richer Sounds about £30 more and felt like i was robbing them. Its a lot of amp for the money very happy. Did need to read the manual though to set up but would recommend I also use a powered HDMI splitter with a 15m hdmi run have had a couple of times with PC when changed from downstairs TV to play a game to upstairs and got told out of range as guess thats a handshake issue. My tv cant cope with the same frame rates as ips monitor upstairs think sometime a game fails to pick up correctly the change. But can see how thats hard. Need something like on the sound that switches between monitor settings I guess. But thats not the Amps Fault.

Did anyone actually find/buy one of these? X)
