Sony SX30 Flash Memory Camcorder £30 Cashback from Sony 2 Yr Warranty 4GB internal memory @ John Lewis

Found 15th Dec 2009
Im of to disneyland paris tomorrow so had made a quick decision after a few days research on a handycam, liked the portability of this cam given we will have a 3 & 4 yr with us. It has 4gb internal memory, on the downside doesnt takde SDHC only the Pro Duo cards which are more expensive. However the £119 is after the £30 cashback from Sony and altough im not ready to spend on a good HD cam at the moment, thought this was a good deal. I also get a free upto 3 yr warranty extension as i have a barclays additions active account. There was a canon FS200 posted earlier, i asked Jessops about the difference between that and this in terms of image quality and they told me not very much difference at all. So given its £70 cheaper, i went for this

Same price at Comet but you dont get the 2 yr warranty & JLcs

The light, compact Sony DCR-SX30E offers easy recording with great picture quality. You can choose record to the 4GB internal flash memory or expand the memory even further using the Memory Stick slot (Memory Sticks available separately).
The quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens features a staggering 60x optical and 2000x digital zoom, allowing you to get right up close to your subject. And SteadyShot image stabilization ensures clearer video when youre shooting handheld.

Framing and reviewing your footage is easy with the fold-out 2.7 inch LCD screen and theres a clever Face Index and Film Roll Index for quick, easy searches.

I have been looking at these as was going to get my son a flip, but decided on a proper one. This is a budget camera with poor reviews on Amazon, for zooming and low light. The Panasonics seem to be a lot better for a little more? Maybe this is a reason! just sugesting?:whistling:
