There are Xbox One S bundles on sale at the moment for £199, worth considering paying the extra for all the added functions of a 4k bluray equipt console.

X-Box One S is terrible for 4k Blu Ray. It can't cope and stutters and crashes sometimes. Lip sync is a pain with just this device in my setup. It's so clunky interface wise too. I'm stuck with it until I can get a standalone player. If you value watching films don't use the X-Box.

Absolute bargain. Great player. Now supports Dolby vision.

Added to my basket yesterday at £197 but never checked out. That'll do nicely.

The reviews for this 4K player are great, I'm surprised it hasn't got more heat?
Or get an xbox one s?

Known for not being ideal when it comes to playing 4K discs? Seen plenty of comments saying so in the past on this site.

first I've heard of this. I was looking to get one. mainly for playing streaming in 4k but for 4k discs as a bonus over another streaming, and very rare playing games a far last. what kind of problems does it have?

Maybe I should have put the 49% discount that amazon are showing but it has been available for £179 or thereabouts previously
I definitely don't need this, but I am tempted. Does anyone know how it compares to the Panasonic ub400

I already own it, I'm wondering if this would be much of an upgrade. The only difference in features is that this one has Dolby vision support, however my TV doesn't... I'm wondering if there's a difference in PQ?
After reading all positive reviews, I've just ordered this along side Blade Runner 2049.

I'd added heat anyway but thanks for posting the deal
man this is £40 more than I wanna spend on a 4k bluray player (although really, I don't wanna pay more than £50 for a souped up bluray player).

Is this really the best option right now? Ordered some 4k blurays off the deal so now need to get a player.
Oh very hot! Didnt realise this was in the sale.

There are players that come up for less than this, an LG and Samsung 8500 (latter was posted on here previously for about £160 including 5 or 6 4k movies) so might be worth keeping an eye on here

I read that the LG player that's often on offer is very loud (although I read this one can be heard during quiet films as well). 5 or 6 movies with the player for £160 is pretty sweet and I'd bite at that if it was available. I've ordered this based on the positive reviews. If it gets a high score at original price, it should be worth £140, even if I don't think they need to cost that much. I'll continue to keep an eye, if anything comes up this week, i'll return it. I'd just get an xbox one s or save up for a xbox one x if they had decent playback, but what I've read so far suggests they don't (which baffles my mind!).
I've noticed over the last few weeks that the price of these has started to rise. Not sure if that's because of the very good reviews it's been getting, but the average was £199.99 at most retailers and is now £230+ so this is a steal

I also hope it's as good as the reviews, I was blown away by the picture with the 8500 Samsung (but especially the sound with an av receiver), get all your settings tweaked and enjoy !

The LG is best avoided, ex UP-970 owner. The Samsung is now an old model.

Xbox One X plays 4k Blu-ray flawlessly for me, but does struggle to read Planet Earth II intermittently which means sometimes have to eject and insert a few times but once it recognises it then works fine.

It does but you have to keep turning it off when you watch a non Dolby vision film or 3d film. The firmware is broken. I paid £233 for mine off Amazon and sent it back. I wouldn't even pay this hot offer price for it knowing what I know now.

As another user mentioned on here, the Xbox One S tends to lag randomly on just about all movies I tried watching from it.

It also had the weirdest bug with 3D blu-rays about 2 months ago, but to be honest I haven't checked it was fixed or not. I put a 3D movie in it, it starts loading and in the second where it is supposed to switch over to 3D, the HDMI signal gets lost. I was shocked at first until I realized that ejecting the disc from the console returned the signal back to normal. Tried the same disc on my PS4 and PC and had no issues. Tried another 3D blu-ray disc on the Xbox One S, the same thing happened. Could freak someone out thinking their console or the TV had gone busted, luckily it was just something in the firmware that completely broke the 3D playback. That said I don't know if you even care about 3D, but judged by this I can say you can expect any sort of weird issues from the Xbox if you intend to use it as a movie disc player.
Can't believe this doesn't have an optical output, which should be standard on all 4K/Blu-ray players really.

Yes it has, they were fixed long ago, it's odd that some people always choose that old outdated article which was made only 8 weeks after the Xbox one S release !.
The latest Xbox update for preview members also has Dolby Vision included which will be coming to all Xbox one S and X owners for both the Ultra HD Blu-Ray player and Netflix etc this year.

just put "Xbox one s " into the search bar on hotukd, then you can also set up a keyword so any deals for them in the next few days come up.
