With so many systems now wanting a network connection I've gone for a Homeplug (or similar) and Hub behind the TV.. Can now Use DVD/TV and Media Player all on the network..

Haven't voted on this cos I haven't got a Sony TV...but seems and expensive way to get Broadband connection..

What kind of Net access does this actually give you?

This only works with the Sony Internet TV. It is a wireless connection through your broadband router. I have one and it works great. It saves you having a wired connection from your TV to your computer.
Obviously only buy if you have a Sony TV.

I have a bravia and use 200mbps homeplugs, they work great for love film, network transfer and also work with the android remote app. They are available for around £32+ so cheaper than this but the best bit is they work with all things with an ethernet connection, not just your sony tv/blue-ray player.

i bought some ethernet plug sockets instead - maybe not as convient but works with anything then. very annoyed sony charge soo much for it.

Would you say that this is a good price?? I have been searching for a few days know and carnt find it any cheaper. Ta

Looks to me like a very standard USB wifi adapter rebranded by Sony to make it look like it's needed for their TVs designed to fool unsuspecting people who don't know any better.

These are available wiht the Sony branding for about £10 on Fleabay, so on that basis it's a complete rip-off - cold from me.

I thought that for my LG TV and put a wifi dongle in without success, ... you need one with the right chipset to interface with the TV drivers...

Netplugs the way to go ...

If you absolutley think it's necessary to have this the price is ok, been this price for the last 4/5 months, and occasionally pops up for £39.99 devlivered from amazon warehouse used 'like new', I had thought about buying it but when you consider it's adding upto and over 10% to the cost of your tv, I couldn't justify it - but by all accounts it works and works well.

Can you use those homeplug powerline things on extension plug leads or multi-socket extenders? ... Or do they need to be plugged into a socket in the wall?

Extension leads are fine as long as there's no surge protection, that really messes them up.

I posted this on HUKD a few days ago and i got it yesterday, does the exact same job. It works as a Wireless N but through the ethernet on the TV and is powered through the USB port. Took 2 mins to set up and works perfectly

I bought this Buffalo wireless access point, it has lots of geed reviews, and it doubles as a wireless network extender at the same time. Was about £26 delivered I think. Works fine with my Sony 32" telly.
