? I've yet to see a laptop around this price with a 7200RPM Drive.

Another U processor !
Doesn't seem worth it with these duping processors....unless you need loads of battery life and not great power in which case you could get something else for even less...e.g. B processors.

Is that right ?

expired? price showing at £603

Look on right under More Buying Choices. Usually dispatched within 2 to 3 weeks.

opinions please yes the processor is slow but will this do or playing games it has hd4000 so I presumed so I recently posted an ask question re a laptop and have just clicked this, thought for the spec and price it would be worth the wait for the boy's birthday only a 2wk delay lol

Ah sorry my bad. Thanks for that

Is the u processor noticeably slow.

Replace the CD drive with a sata HDD drive, then replace the main hard drive with an SSD. It'll then be a very quick laptop, with lots of storage...and a touchscreen.
Nice little setup.

Have some heat, but white, I need to get an iphone too if I wanted to look that uncool...

It depends on what games you want to play in all honesty. I'm running an i7-3520m at 3.6ghz with Intel HD4000 and it can't really play much. Playing games isn't as much about processing power as it is graphics power. As long as you dont='t run it in power saving mode the Intel HD4000 chip can take advantage of the available RAM so it can run not too demanding games at reasonable resolutions. Don't expect it to run brand new games at high resolutions and you'll probably be pleasantly surprised.

Ordered.
Looks like a very good machine. Good connectivity, touchscreen, i5 & 14".

There's around a 23% performance increase when going from a U variant of a CPU to the M version.
But the U version is rated for half as much power when at max.

The Intel spec sheet says the iGPU on the U version only runs at 350MHz whereas the M version's runs at 650MHz. A significant speed bump. Anyone know what this translates to in real world performance?

custom build this on the sony website and it comes to about £510

The answer is yes, you install it yourself

+1

...never experienced touch screen laptop before, never the less it seems to be a good deal!

Not bad for the price but not a fan of these U processors and the touchscreen on a laptop is a bit novelty in my opinion

I think Touchscreen laptops are great, You can see the thinking behind the development of Windows 8 as an OS when you use one imho.............

Absolutely not better.
HP: It's got more RAM & double the HDD capacity.
Sony: CPU gets a much higher score on passmark (i3 2375m vs i5 3337u, it has turbo, supports more RAM, is Ivy Bridge (22nm instead of 32nm), has faster iGPU & the CPU can withstand higher max temperatures.

Go with the Sony. It's leagues better
