Guessing it has the pentium 987, which is poor, especially for this sort of price.

You can use code SORRY1013 to make it £279, think the code ends midnight.

By that you mean it will struggle with Youtube, web browsing, sending emails etc? My mums video encoding days are behind her.

A major component and details are "your guess is as good as mine".

How hard is it for Sony to detail whether it's Home or Pro. Sheesh. Good price though.

There should be a law against shopping sites like Sony being vague on CPU specs.

Well, Windows 8 without the 'Pro' after it *is* what would have been called Windows 8 Home, but now it's just Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro. And did you seriously think a low-end, value consumer PC would randomly have Pro on it?

I cant imagine Ford selling many cars if they only specified "an engine", as opposed to specifying the size, fuel, tech details, emisions, mpg figures etc. of each model. Would expect Sony to know better tbh.

Picked up the i5 white version of this just yesterday for £479 and it's a fantastic laptop. Windows 8 is horrible though.

8.1 update is coming soon, helps a little as it's much more customisable, you can set it to go to the desktop, and you can make the start 'tiles' menu just show your apps and you can set the start menu to have the same background as your desktop. Just remember you can do a search by typing what you're looking for on the tile/apps screen. Right clicking the start menu icon in 8.1 only (doesn't exist in 8 er obviously) gives you an easier way to shut down. Should be out on 17/18th October as a free update. I have it already and it's not bad.
