very good deal from Sony specially with all those specs.

hot

Sounds good

17 inch screen?

if only it also had usb3.

USB.3 would have got my attention at that price (anything over 400 must have USB 3) or no deal from me.

There is going to be massive sales on before this quarter ends for Intel, HP, Dell, Toshiba etc etc etc, to clear older stock for new (i hope so anyway)

When will it become the norm for laptops to have 3G SIM card slots?

We all want our machines connected, all the time, yet most people still faff around with dongles for 3G. What a PITA!

+NVIDIA 1GB?

Should be changed to +GeForce 410M

Why is the screen size in cm and not inches?

Good deal having blu-ray and 17.3inch screen. The 410m graphics are probably nearly as good as the integrated graphics on an Ivybridge i5 so overall a good package for the price.

I agree it's a pity this doesn't have USB 3.0. It will be interesting to see what sort of sales there are on 'old' stock; having bought a new laptop in March i hope they aren't too good

lovely deal

Even a Methuselah like me was taught mainly metric measurements; maybe it's time to start putting up km road-signs too?

Now it says £419! That`s hot!

this is hot and i will vote it hot.but a couple of weeks ago i picked a sony from outlet 17" screen. 500gb hd. 6gb ram. 1gb dedicated graphics. bluray. i5 2450 with usb3 for 450 only.

Do the Sony shop still offer the 3 year warranty free of charge? Used to be on all laptops bought direct from them, as opposed to the same thing bought from PC world etc

I purchased a white one same spec on Sunday, Brand new fantastic service, For the price you really cant go wrong, also
I got 7% off as it was for my son going to uni with his Student code. I agree Hot

The amount of RAM a GPU has has little to how it'll perform, in this case the 410M is barely faster than the integrated graphics.

Excellent deal, especially as now 419.00 - great price for the specs

I don't, I simply hit wireless hotspot on my mobile and away I go, not hard really and then the phone goes back in the pocket

If this was 15" I would of jumped at the chance. 17" is just not a comfortable size to be carrying around.

I get to the checkout and it wont accept my card lol

You can get a Dell N5110 with i7 CPU and graphics 525M and USB 3.0 for this price (no bluray player though). But if it has to be Sony ...... your choice.

I am tempted by this!! The BD drive is a winner for me, just not convinced I need something as big as this, 17" is a bit much, so they say! If it was a 15" model, i'd be more accomodating! ;-)

If the site is not accepting card details it means the laptop is gone, they usually only have a couple of these.

not bad but poor gpu and no usb 3..

considering how much quciker usb3 is compared to 2 its well worth getting

i ordered this 10 mins ago and my card was accepted no problem

outlet.sony.co.uk/sho…CEK

dedicated gfx, USB 3.0 and an i5 sandybridge under £400

There are quite a few laptops showing in stock but when you check out, it actually appears as out of stock. I spoke to Sony and its a website glitch. They literally only have 2 or 3 of each.
