Summed it up perfectly, as a system builder although I haven't weighed up the cost, although preferably any system personally I would prefer to build myself choosing the components, I am sure spec wise building something comparible would come in cost wise not much under the price of this.

Hot deal for those that like to buy their PCs as a bundle.

Discount Voucher Code for 20% Off All Fashion @ Bargain Crazy!

Will this voucher work for non-fashion goods?

does this have VGA/DVI out?

Look at the T&C. They seem to think statutory consumer rights don't apply to them.

Dont forget the 3% Quidco cashback too

I don't get it...am I missing something? It's rubbish.

gary_rip;4486595

does this have VGA/DVI out?

No - it's designed to use the display that's built in. If you want a system to connect up to an external monitor/television, I would suggest a regular HTPC, or a compact pc like the Dell Studio Hybrid models.

You can find details for this particular model on Sony's ]website.

However.....as TheProf mentioned, I don't think you'll be able to use the 20% discount code on this item.

Robert

I purchased this almost 2 weeks ago when they had the 14% off for valentines day. I am more than happy with it. Picture quality and sound are great. I must admit I am no teckie but I am really happy with it. 20% voucher is only off clothing according to an email

£105 for a matching Intel Core Duo desktop CPU offering same performance as the Mobile T8100
£70 Vista Home Premium
£80 19" Widescreen Monitor

Theres £255 of this straight away, then add in the cost of Hard disk, memory, motherboard, card reader, tv tuner card, dvd writer, Case, PSU, Keyboard and mouse..what is there not to get?

As I stated earlier as a system builder I would struggle to match building a system costing much less than this deal.

Personally I would prefer to build a system, but for those that want an all in one system it offers very good value for the price.

No hump, just compaing this to a HTPC is silly, but if someone wants a powerful (in comparison to HTPC) desktop to play the odd film on this would of been fine if it had VGA/DVI.

Why would it need VGA/DVI when it has a screen built in?? That's like complaining that you can't fit new seats in a car?

Cannot believe how offish you have been with this useful post for you Gary_rip, why would you want to hump a monitor with a PC built into it to hook it up to another tv? You would buy a laptop for that purpose surely. Frankly I think you have been extremely rude to rwniel72.

Did you actually read the post he was being helpful, I somehow get the impression you may mistakingly think that this PC is a desktop, it has the gubbings built into the unit.....can you imagine wanting to hump a 19" widescreen monitor to place it in front of a 50" tv to play a dvd or divx?

EDIT: Dell Studio PC's cant even do HD output at 1080p - so a really poor off topic misleading answer actually.

All three of the Dell Studios I've used can output 1080p and playback content at that resolution without issue (Hybrid, 430MT and XPS/435MT)

And also, gary_rip your original question didn't even mention that you were interested in a unit designed to do HD 1080P output to start with, just had it got VGA/DVI output, so who is the one being off topic :whistling:

This is more of a lifestlye object surely, so can't compare it to normal PCs or Laptops. Good spec though.
Nothing wrong with wishing for another video output IMO, designing a new kitchen Breakfast room, you could have a 5+ meter DVI/HDMI cable hidden through the wall to another TV.

gary_rip;4487147

i doubt a 2.1ghz dual core processer will be able to play 1080p in a h.264 codec. might do sometimes with media player classic with coreAVC and haali media splitter installed, but it will often have trouble. can easily do 720p though in vlc or mpc

It is a little disappointing it doesn't have any form of video output, I have a Studio Hybrid with almost exactly the same spec aside from also having a blu-ray drive. It's hooked up to both a 40in TV and a 24in desktop monitor so that it can be used as a desktop PC or for video playback by siwtching between the monitors. This Sony machine could fulfill a similar role as it would be handy to have it for the dual purposes as well.

Not a bad price although as always with these all in one products you're a bit sunk if the monitor or any of the mainboard components fail.

Disagree, the Nvidia 8400GT will offload a fair amount of H.264 decoding from the already capable processor, should easily be able to handle 1080p, but whats the point doubt if the display is 1080p, so not an issue.

ludicrously overpriced in the first place.....so its a cold

Brilliant mate. Well done. Talk about obvious. I'm off to your homepage to find a HUKD tool, although I think I've found one already.

This was never worth a grand but its loook ok for price given size of monitor.

Edit: thought this was a laptop at first glance. In which case this is good deal.
