PC World are selling this laptop for £1299.99

Comet had it at £999.99 up to 28th December - it has now increased to £1019.00 - better grab it before it goes any higher.

I live in Northern Ireland where Comet don't deliver to but I got PC World to pricematch it + 10% of the difference so I only paid £969.99 (based on the earlier price). This wasn't an easy task with PC World so I suggest you go with Comet unless you live in Northern Ireland where it is possible to get PC World to authorise the discount but 'very' reluctantly after speaking to head office etc.

Why would anyone pay this much for a laptop?
when one for half the price will do the same job!:?

its an ulta portable laptop you are paying for the portability of it. it only ways 1.93kg its going to be hard to find one at that weight

LOL, about £500 goes on the badge. What a waste of money.

I have a Vaio SZ which I bought 12 months ago and haven't had any regrets. Sure you can find something £500 cheaper which will do the same job, but this is ultra light weight so is easy to work with, unlike other laptops which get too heavy to keep on your lap, especially if you travel a lot (like me).

I don't think there is a brand you will find where people have had issues with it. I personally haven't had any issues with the Sony brand. I have 2 other laptops in the family, both Vaio's. None of them have ever let me down.

I've voted hot, as I know first hand how good the SZ series is. I would recommend this any day.

I have a IBM T42 and that is very lightweight and compact but without the very small keys - just right.
You do pay a bit more for Sony but its all about higher quality when you buy Sony. I found Sony are generally a tad more expensive than others anyway.
I personally wouldnt spend a grand on a laptop though.

Agree with previous post. They are alot lighter and easier to lug about. I have a VGN-SZ1XP for over a year now and its perfect. Sure you could buy a dell/hp etc for cheaper but generally they are alot more bulky and I think build quality is better in Sony. Personal preference really. They are alot of money and even I believe you pay so much for the brand but I don't think anyone would be disappointed with this product.

They look better aswell, light and thin.

Paid £435 for my Vaio VGN-C1S, 13.3 wide screen, 100gb, 1gb, 2.3kg T5500 at bargaincazy. Upgraded it to 2gb for around £30 at the time.
No way I would pay around £550 more for better processor and weight.

I have a sony vaio that i use for work which is brillaint and a few years old now. I bought a packard bell at 1/2 the sony price to use at home and it is total rubbish.
Its got to go and I'll replace it with another sony whatever the cost!

Got the same one although havent bothered upgrading the ram as it was a present.
You dont always have to pay for the badge!

The only major difference is the graphics card on this one.

I don't think you can compare like for like with this laptop and something cheaper. It isn't ideal for everyone but for a business user or someone who is reliant on their laptop you'll love this. It has biometric security, and the weight and size of this, as well as performance speaks for itself.

Fair point......

I didnt see that it was a light weight / more portable model in the post earlier, but it does still seem a high premium for something a bit lighter.

There seems to be some confusion!

I was not informing of a great laptop deal. I was informing of a great price for this specific laptop! I think £330 off the r.r.p. is good deal!

Obviously you can get a better laptop for the price or the same for £400/£500 less but as others have stated you get what you pay for to a certain degree and this is a Sony VAIO.

People obviously haven't understood the post!

I just wish all deal posters would include the delivered price in the heading instead of unnecessary hyperbole.
